Been scrolling through some Corbeau content and I'm getting sick of the interpretation most of ya'll made when he mentioned Giovanni.

"haha he hates his own kid", "Giovanni be doin anything but raised his own kid", "Poor Silver, out-favored by some french boy"

It seems like majority thinks Giovanni took care of Corbeau after he abandoned Silver, but to me, it makes more sense if Giovanni made a trip to Kalos prior to Team Rocket's downfall (maybe before the events of RBY/FRLG)

I can definately see him going to another region to look for powerful pokemon/trainers. And that was shown in the manga of pokemon (don't go arguing that the games and manga are different universes, it's like FNAF with the Fazbear Fright stories and the games, use what hints it gives to tie the ropes). Also in Masters EX, Giovanni will recruit anyone (even a child, like the protagonist of that game) into his team if they're very strong.

So, What If—When he visited Lumiose, he found a little runt Corbeau and he reminds Giovanni of Silver (both boys are around the same age imo) and with Corbeau being hostile, likely doesn't want to be underestimated despite being homeless, the boss of Team Rocket saw potential in him.

So he took care of him during his time in Lumiose, teaching him about the myths of legendary Pokemon in Johto and Hoenn (in the manga, he does do research on legendary pokemon to find them so he can gain more power), and how business runs. Ensuring he leaves an impact on Corbeau so, hopefully, he joins him some day. Then went back to Kanto once his trip was over, and perhaps afterward Corbeau was then raised by Lysandre (not sure if this means Giovanni and him have met, but I don't remember Lysandre mentioning him at all tho...)

Then after Giovanni's defeat, left Kanto and abandoned his son, I don't think he would go to Kalos to see Corbeau because he sees himself as weak.

There's that grunt that mentions that while he's intoxicating it also makes him vulnerable it makes you wonder if he let someone in close and got hurt and now he puts up even more of a front. It's why he takes such a liking to the player, he can be himself and not get hurt. A true rarity in his hard life.
