He played with your fingers when you hung out with your friends, a small, unconscious thing he did whenever his shyness crept in. Wally often liked to make others think that he was always okay. A flaw from a habit of being afraid to upset others. But you knew him better than that. He was much more shy than he made people think. And he was often troubled by the expectations set out for him.

Even though it wasn’t your favorite thing, you always let him continue, because it was one of those quiet habits that reminded you that he was yours and you his. Comforting him.

Now that he was your boyfriend, you started to enjoy the small rubs on your back whenever he held you close, his thumb pressing gently into you as if he never wanted to let go. Now that you had them you couldn’t picture life without them. It felt steady and comforting.

But your absolute favorite thing about him was the soft smile he gave you whenever he looked at you. One that made you feel shy and a little insecure, as though if he looked too closely he’d see every imperfection you tried to hide.

But for Wally it was much more than that. It was his way off telling you he loved you even if he still hadn’t confessed it yet.
