A limited-period Funassyi Cafe will open in Osaka this Thursday, June 16th. It’s the first time a Funassyi Cafe has appeared in the Kansai region. Previously the Funassyi-themed eatery has been in Shibuya, Tokyo (twice), Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Details of the Osaka version are as follows: 

Location: THE GUEST Cafe and Diner (operated by Parco), on the 2nd floor of the Shinsaibashi 161 building 

Period: June 16 to July 25, 2016

Operating hours: 10:00 to 21:00 (Last orders at 20:30)

For this Osaka version the Funassyi Cafe will offer some unique merchandise, as well as new menu items. Of note are the takoyaki-shaped cream puffs (bottom right in the last photo above) which include one shaped like Funassyi’s face. Takoyaki are Osaka street food and Funassyi has a particular fondness for them. (I guess that trying to create actual takoyaki that looked like The Pear was too difficult.) There will also be special stamp designs at the Funassyi Cafe and the Funassyiland Osaka store, for a mini “stamp rally”. 

A big banner with Funassyi’s face is already displayed in front of the Shinsaibashi 161 building (top photo). 

There haven’t been any announcements about an in-pearson visit by Funassyi, but he’s always dropped in at least once at the other cafes, so there’s a fair chance he will do so this time too - although his visits are always unannounced.
