why say it softly?

in a world where loud often means being seen and right, soft whispers are the ones left unheard.

some things are meant to be said softly. not everything needs to be loud to be true.

this is a place for the words you never raised your voice to say, for the thoughts that live between sentences.

here, everything is enough — whether it’s a sentence you never sent or something you wish you’d said.

all you have to do is say it softly.

here, you are not required to reveal more than you want. silence is allowed. some things can stay unfinished.

Weapons. Trained, tested, forged in steel and fire. Failure is an inevitability that ends in death. Pain should not be felt--it should be recognized, familiar, and inconsequential

Martyrs. In the form of servants and princes, of leaders and underdogs. If blood is necessary, the martyr will lift their hands and offer it all

Shields. Like tempering a sword, but only to bear and not to lash out. Wounds are medals--not symbols of pride, but symbols of worth. A pretty shield is useless; scars mean a job well done

Experiments. Raised on the cold comfort of a lab table. Restraints are only necessary when they're not in their right mind. Is it honorable, to be twisted beyond recognition? Or is it just a necessary evil?

Monsters. Cruelty, caution, and regarding one as a creature beyond reasonable thought is tempering in its own right. But if you keep a leash at the right length, perhaps the massecre won't reach you. One can hope.

Idols. Pretty face, pretty name, pretty hands around their shoulders and throat. There to seduce, manipulate, force any feeling to come to the surface and twist it to their favor. Any genuinity stays locked behind the guilded cage that surrounds their pretty little heart

Trophies. Status and wealth and the traditions that keep someone at their heels, on their knees, to display and serve and decorate one's ballroom.

Ling Wen

When she is stressed she grabs a paper and doodles, but she quickly hides them when done.

When she is dealing with annoying people so plays with strands of her hair or robes

She has sore hands and wrists from the constant work

When she is working she lets you sit near her, lay your head on her lap, and sometimes even help with the easy stuff (She never wants to over work you)

In his head, you deserve the best anyway. Now he opens up the doors of his heart and confesses about how he’s been feeling and that it was never your fault. He’s opening up.

Outside the balcony, Rin sits on the chair, reflecting what had just transpired. He hates himself even more for what he just did to you. However, he knows he would do anything to treat you well, including breaking down his walls to let you in. He just needs some time—and closed doors for now. He’s rubbing his temples, looking back at how your flawless face had been graced by the look of confusion and concern—he can’t blame you.

He’s been feeling so, so insecure; since when did number 1s ever act so low? He saw how others act so lovey and affectionate with their partners. He does too, but it’s harder for someone like him. He’s had his fair share of hurt, and he finds it selfish to want to protect himself from reliving it. And yet here he is, so desperate to just let his walls crumble at the slightest touch of your hand on his.

“Rin,” a soft whisper echoes out to him, distracting him from his thoughts. “It’s okay; don’t overthink it. I don’t mind how long it takes; I'll wait forever just for you; just take your time.” 

There it is, that same soft smile. The same one that had him falling for you in the first place. How is it that a person could embody the very definition of gentle? He wonders how he ever got so lucky to have you with him.

He reaches out to hold you, to pull you in closer. His touch on yours felt warmer, laden with unspoken words. “For you, I’m trying. You deserve it at the very least,” he says in between a softer smile, contrasting his usual self. It was ethereal, a portrait you’d see decorating the homes of the affluent.

It was a tender moment, just two souls sharing an embrace. As the two stood in a comforting silence, he slowly pulled you closer and tighter to his body, as if he wanted to pull her closer than humanly possible. Without a word, he buried his face into your neck as he held you even closer. He began to shake slightly, almost like he was holding back tears or something.

He was never one to show much affection, but he was clearly trying to let his walls down, and this was his way of doing that. Despite his attempts to remain stoic, a small tear had managed to escape and trickle down his cheek. He quickly wiped it away, as if embarrassed at letting his emotions show through.

Even now, he couldn't take his eyes off of her. He just stood there, silently gazing at her, taking in every detail of her face. This would mark the day Rin started being more honest with how he felt, and you couldn't be happier seeing his slow and steady change.

In his head, you deserve the best anyways. Long story short, a fight broke out between you two, and he’s even more nerve-wracking now that he’s scared of losing the very person he’s been living for.

‘You don’t know what I feel; you don’t understand at all!’ A male’s voice loudly rang in the apartment.

"How would I know if you never told me anything?” You retorted, following behind him as he moved around, “You know I’ll listen to you anytime!”

He stops, considering spilling out everything that he’s been keeping inside him, considering laying his heart bare for you to see—he stops, squinting because he’s never felt so vulnerable, so brutally honest about his emotions. It’s scary stepping out of your comfort zone.

You look into his eyes and notice something new; this isn’t like the usual Rin Itoshi you knew. The Rin Itoshi that ruled the field like a star player—no,  this was raw emotion you saw in his eyes. His calculated gaze softened, a glint of fear present. You tend to notice these things the more time you spend with someone.

"Hey, are you okay?” you asked, stepping closer to gently hold his chin in your palms, aiming to ease nerves. For a split second, you could feel every inch of his being lean into the touch, him softening for just that moment—until he snapped back into reality. 

“NO!” he blurts out rather loudly, and you see his eyes almost well up with tears from how much this is taking a toll on him, emotionally and physically. He regrets it; he never meant to say it so harshly; he knew he wasn’t acting his usual self. He would have never been this rough to you—the one he holds dearly in his heart. “I-I’m sorry… I didn’t mean—” He stammers out weakly before cutting himself short. “I… I’ll be back; just give me some time to collect myself,” he says softly before exiting the room, walking towards the balcony, and closing the door. He’s a mess of emotions swirling in his chest.

You could only watch and stay there, taking in the initial shock from the whole interaction. Slowly you stalk towards the balcony, sitting by the door as you wait for him. You know being open about emotions is new to Rin, even during the beginning of your relationship. That never stopped the connection between you both from blossoming. You wait patiently as he takes time to himself, trying to make sense of the mess of nerves he’s become.
