RIN: So, uh, Rowan? Did you see the… memo?.. that 002 sent out? With the "prizes" the double-0s have contributed?

RIN: First place, they stole your balloon costume idea, but they bought one in a child's size? Then second place is at least adult sized... a fish tie? And third is a pack of stickers. But they are all of M's face.

RIN: Oh no, there are a few of M's old sausage dog Pickles for good measure.

K.Lee: Well. At least I don't have to worry that the prizes I came up with for Q Branch are too silly.

K.Lee: First place is the Magnificent Anemone prize, second place is the Dahlia Anemone prize, and third is the Strawberry Anemone prize. I've made little enamel pins that look like the actual anemones to be mounted on ribbons, but the real prizes are the subscriptions.

K.Lee: Magnificent gets a hundred pounds each month to be donated to a charity of their choice. Dahlia gets a different potted plant each month, and Strawberry gets a different shipment of fruit. The second and third place prizes can be donated to others of the winner's choosing. I misread "Condy" as "Candy" at first and was rather disappointed that I couldn't put together a monthly box of sweets based on the condylactis gigantea.

K.Lee: …I'm becoming obsessed with anemones someone please tell me this month is over soon.

RIN: Oh, no, you didn't get a sheet of stickers with Q's face and his cats? I am so disappointed… (Rolls eyes so hard I pass out)

xX_Subterranian_Xx: Those are easier to pull together than my idea. I was going to brush off my welding skills and create trophies from the remains of Q branch tech the agents have destroyed.

xX_Subterranian_Xx: I was thinking car parts as first place, broken motherboards as second place, and a pile of bullet casings as third.

K.Lee: Subterranian, I love you, I love that idea, and I love the fact that I know for certain that Q will think it's the best idea anyone's had this decade.

K.Lee: It's so cost-effective, too. We already have the materials. #recycle-renew-reuse

K.Lee: I'm better with things that don't need electricity. Rin?

RIN: (welding mask already on) did someone say melt things, on purpose???

RIN: Uh not to alarm anyone, but I am watching Q stress eat the last box of Tim Tams. Might need to make another run. Also, maybe NOT have out anything that produces fire within his reach right now.

xX_Subterranian_Xx: You weld, I'll be on Q control patrol. I'm out of jaffa cakes, too.

K.Lee: Rowan, are you anywhere nearby? I know you're very busy but it's an emergency. We need a sugar supply run.

Rowan Marris: hiding in the broom cupboard with his own personal steal-proof cup of tea and a brick of a detective novel. Can’t you people order Uber or something?

Rowan Marris: And anyway, what sort of prizes is that? Can’t it be just, you know, books?

Rowan Marris: (You can gift Les Miserables (unabridged) to the person you dislike the most, too)

K.Lee: I can hear Q talking to Tanner about leaving the country. I'm going to go down to the timed obstacle course and get myself a severely sprained ankle so I can skip the rest of the month's nonsense.

K.Lee: Someone needs to do something about Mallory's marine life obsession. I'm not sure how much more of this we can take.

RIN: I think Q cracked. He is gone, and his out of office is on…

RIN: It reads (and I quote)- I am currently out of the office dealing with a critical procurement issue. Have an issue? Please review the frequently asked questions on MI6 Intranet. Didn't find the answer to your question? Well as Faxe said, "The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerable uncertainty: not knowing what comes next."

RIN: We all know the "procurement issue" is his empty tea stash. And he is quoting Le Guin to double-0s? Do you think he is having a psychotic break for real this time?

xX_Subterranian_Xx: Perhaps quoting her is the last attempt at remaining civil. One can hope he is reading some favorites to remain sane.

RIN: Do you think we can talk Q into implementing story hour as part of our Q Branch recovery protocol???

RIN: Pretty sure his voice has actual medicinal qualities. When he isn't cursing out 007.

RIN: Q has the welding machine out. Everyone. Run.

Crowlet imagined Bond characters in the Spider Noir 'verse, where they have been genetically altered. (Of course, Q made sure they were all stabilized and not going to die.)

Cat Q - Most important, now Q has nine lives. He's gonna be fit. Jump high, see in the dark… Also, he will be super cute. Well, cuter than he already was. Very dangerous.

BadBunny imagined Bond characters in the Murder Drone 'verse, where they are all drones.

M: She can make everyone believe she is in charge of most things (whether she is or isn't) and that she has everything under control (whether she does or doesn't). M is good at manipulating others into doing her biddings. Her main emotion is being disappointed. Mostly in Bond. According to M, she is the undefeated boss. (Inspired by V)

Bond: He can charm and manipulate people into giving him the answers he needs. Bond is quite often bored, especially when he is supposed to be listening to lectures about "not crashing every car" or "not causing another international incident, you bloody big buffoon." He is, of course, best at his job so trying to tell him to do anything differently is a lost cause. (Inspired by J)

Dipping into the lore from my fic Love is the Warmest Colour, a crossover with American Gods, for this one! In a universe where magic is alive though unacknowledged by much of humanity, a fae holds the position of Quartermaster of MI6. Q exists in the places between old and new, human and other, reality and possibility. He finds himself drawn to those who also walk between worlds, including his vexing and beloved (mostly) human, James Bond.

Two important people who Q has relied on to help him keep this iteration of Bond alive are Eve Moneypenny and Madeleine Swann. The story thus far has touched upon their powers, but not described them in great detail. However, I am breaking open my character notes to share a bit...

Eve Moneypenny has clairvoyance. She comes from a long line of those with the gift of true sight, and was raised to appreciate her power. As a result, she is very hard to deceive. Lies and false fronts are no match for Eve's perception. This means of course that Eve is very aware of the nature of the Quartermaster, and unlike others who have seen a glimpse behind his mask, she is not afraid of him. Because of this, Q relies on her judgements and her discretion.

Eve's power does have limitations which those who would like to exploit it (even for "good") have difficulty accepting. Not all of what she sees is easy to interpret. She has some guilt for instances when her insight couldn't prevent tragedy.

Madeleine Swann has powers of enchantment. This isn't some silly superficial parlour trick, the ability to influence the emotions of others is not to be taken lightly. For Madeleine, she has chosen to use this power for good as often as possible, using it in her work to help those with trauma reframe their perceptions and find peace. It has also helped her to hide herself, manipulating the perceptions of others to see her as harmless, or even forgettable.
