I am genderfaun, which means my gender is fluid but only on the masculine spectrum. I go between having absolutely no gender (agender) to being a trans man. So what's in between?

What is a xenogender? According to the LGBTIA+ Wiki, it is "a gender that cannot be contained by human understandings of gender; more concerned with crafting other methods of gender categorization and hierarchy such as those relating to animals, plants, or other creatures/things".

And that's right on the money! Most of the time my gender cannot be explained by any kind of binary, but rather concepts!

Today I am Dollboygender, which means my gender kind of feels like an androgynous porcelain doll dressed in boy clothes. My gender feels unaligned with the gender binary aside from "vaguely masculine but not".

A lot of people find this confusing, and I don't blame them! It can be!

What pronouns do you use for me then?

I use it/its/itself pronouns! They're my go to set of pronouns that everyone I'm close to uses! No matter how my gender shifts they always feels "correct" or "right". Or as I put it, comfy.

"Isn't that objectifying you?"

Nope!

I cannot be perceived or understood by the human mind, therefore I share my pronouns with such beings as Cthulu from HP Lovecraft or Crona from Soul Eater!

I also use other neopronouns proudly, although they don't get used as often. My top favorites are gore/gore's/goreself, clown/clown's/clownself and moon/moon's/moonself!

Why am I bringing this up?

So I spent the best five dollars of my life getting a comfort character matchup from SmilingLetters on Etsy. Basically they sell a lot of different little ficlet packages to write about you and your comfort character or f/o. I gave them a couple of options and they picked my sweet Toshi.

I'm not going to share all of it because MINE, but I needed to gush. I struggle to believe Yagi would love me sometimes because he's literally the symbol of peace, and I'm just a little guy. I'm chronically ill and a big ol' nerd taboot. However Lei wrote a believable scenario where it felt like Yagi's love would genuinely grow for me over time.

Toshi being sweet and understanding of my many mental and physical conditions is something I always knew in my heart but is nice to hear from another person. Like yes I do need a 7 foot boyfriend who will get me a heated blanky thanks for asking!

“I would have married you.”

Essek froze. His hands gripped the railing on the balcony, turning his knuckles white. Had he heard you correctly? Surely not. He turned to look at you finally, eyes scanning your face. 

It told him nothing but the truth.

“You… no. It wouldn’t have worked,” He said, shaking his head. He turned his back to you once more. He looked over the city of Roshanna. He tried not to think of the many times you had slipped out onto the roof together to look at the stars. His crimes against the dynasty meant his life now had a timer. He would be found out eventually. He would be executed. 

“How do you know?” You asked quietly, just loud enough for him to hear. Essek closed his eyes and tried to steady his heartbeat. 

“I am not good company,” He said simply, “You would have grown bored eventually.”

“In what world, Essek?” You asked. You sigh, exasperated. “You’re the most intellectually stimulating man I’ve ever met. In our decades of friendship I’ve done nothing but appreciate your place by my side.”

He had no answer for this. Everything he thought about saying laid limp on his tongue. He didn’t have a good reason or even a decent excuse. When he opened his eyes again, the moons of Exandria shone down from above; one yellow, one red.

“I did love you,” He finally confessed into the wind. He heard your breath hitch behind him. He turned once more to look at you, seeing the fine dress you wore for the occasion, the glass of Yunfaalyu, the liner that painted your eyes. It was now your turn to scan his face. To try and discern if there was any deception. There wasn’t. He floated forward now, his feet coming to rest in front of you. 

“I never stopped,” You admit. The two of you stared into each other’s eyes. There was so much to say and yet nothing at all. The world had become just the two of you and the soft breeze that weaved through the city.
