That added ouch, no matter how played up, did bring a smile to Hermesâ face, and he felt oddly satisfied. It was usually the smallest of things that did it for him, no matter what most people thought. Yes, he was a well-known magpie who coveted anything that glimmered, but he could also get those things himself. Hermes was for all intents and purposes excellent at getting what he wanted, be it favors or items. So it was the small things, which he didnât have to ask for or didnât necessarily have a monetary value, that mattered the most. Though he would, obviously, be exceptionally disappointed if people stopped giving him gifts just because of that. âThank you.â What was that? The fourth, fifth, thanks that heâd said since they woke up? He was using up an entire yearâs supply.Â
Hermes was certainly more focused on potential difficulties and hurdles they might face than usual, but it was necessary, wasnât it? He had to prove that he was taking things seriously, and not taking advantage of his well-meaning, but often soft-hearted, husband. âAh.â Taking a moment to ponder Hadesâ words, Hermes sat back up, though he covered Hadesâ hands with his own, thumbs brushing along the back and along the sides of his wrists. âI mean, I already assumed we werenât going to give up our own quarters simply because we decide on an apartment together?â He furrowed his brows in question, not quite following Hadesâ train of thought. âAnd either way, even if we share a bedroom one day a week or once a year, you still need to consider what I said. Especially if weâre going to be talking about fidelity and all that.â
Turning his hands slightly, to instead hold Hermesâ hands as opposed to the legs his own hands were now resting on. Thumbs gently brushed over knuckles, keeping some kind of connection even if they werenât nearly as close together. âWell yes we still have what we both have, but I mean whatever apartment we end up in, when we decide to be there and spend that time in the same home, there should be a possibility to have out own... sanctuary if you will.â His voice, at first. seemed steady. but in the end it instead sounded very small, like the words were fading away while he simply looked back up at Hermes. âYeah, I expected as much, but these topics go a little hand in hand. And it is difficult for me to say anything before I know what to expect... what the options even are.â He didnât want to push Hermes for answers, as that rarely did anyone any good, but they both knew they needed to talk about it. The conversation was necessary, and delaying it would make other things possibly be planned with holes in them and that was just a recipe for failure for both of them. âI donât expect you to be... just with me. I know you need more, and I am okay with that, Hermes. Really. There are... things I perhaps would prefer, but I canât be unrealistic either about this.â Pausing he licked his lips, almost feeling like his throat were drying out again. â... I want to be with you, and I would love to be with you in every way, at least every way you let me. But I need to know what that looks like to you, so I can manage my expectations, and by that... adjust how I handle situations.â
