Kurama slumps in my hold. Then, his laboured breath hitches and stutters. He clutches the back of my shirt, the blood on his hands seeping into its fabric.

Ok, but hear me out on this one.

The vampire fears for the end of his existence itself. Having the Reaper so close and looking at his every move, he doesn't know if that meal would be his last... Not because the reaper will kill him but the constant sense of danger in his sorroundings.

The Reaper gets his souls of the damned, and the Vampire gets to feed on those he knows are irredeemable. He still fears the Reaper however, his blood red eye that observes him like a wild animal. He could kill the Vampire, end his immortal suffering with a swing of his scythe, like squashing a fly.

Well, imagine that Kurama is so busy at the office that he lets Yusuke choose a Halloween party for the both of them to wear.
