some people felt the need to argue that all of these points are related to misogyny and have nothing to do with aromanticism or arophobia as my tags suggested, and respectively, as an aromantic women, please just stop. I've lived through years of widespread aro/ace harassment where people bent over backwards to try and claim that aphobia doesn't exist and it's all "actually just misogyny" or "misplaced homophobia" and I have no patience for it.

I know the concept of intersectionality is really hard for some people to grasp! So yes, every point in the og post can be discussed within the context of misogyny, and every point can also be discussed within the context of arophobia and amatonormativity. And even better: one could discuss the intersection of all of these perspectives instead of shutting down the ones you don't relate to.

Tbh I've never felt like there was space to discuss intersections of arophobia and misogyny in wider feminist circles, exactly because of things like this. People just flat out refuse to entertain the thought that we might have something of value to add to the conversation.

according to my sibling my father recently had 4 adult boars and 13 boarlets break into his backyard and he had to try and chase them away with a shovel but they didn't really gaf and he was really scared and really wanted the boars to leave before they could fuck up his vegetable garden but it took them forever to go away and they did dig some shit up. im crying thats such an absurd number of boars given how small his backyard is. i like that he counted the boarlets. picturing his gay ass waving a shovel at the boars and they just do not care

When I was training to be a battered women’s advocate, my supervisor said something that really blew my mind:

“You can always assume one thing about your clients; and that is that they are doing their best. Always assume everyone is doing their best. And if they’re having a day where their best just isn’t that great, or their best doesn’t look like your best, you have to be okay with that.”

Any now whenever anyone in my life, either a friend or a client, frustrates me, disappoints me, or pisses me off, I just tell myself They are doing their best. Their best isn’t that great today, but I have days where my best isn’t that great either.
