I'm Here for The Ballykissangel Feels.

My reaction when I spot something even remotely Ballyk related in the wild.

Me taking screenshots to save titles BritBox suggests because I may watch them later (but I won’t. because I’m only here for the Ballykissangel.)

Someone on IG reached out to me to ask if I was willing to talk about Ballykissangel. Um, of course I am! After a few weeks of frequent DMing we decided to watch episode 1 and share a google doc to record our comments in real time. It’s always nice to find others out there who are trying to keep this flame alive. If anyone else is interested in watching episode 2 with us (possibly in 2 weeks) or even on your own time and just adding your comments to the doc, you’re more than welcome to! spoilers..i guess...can you spoil a show over 22 years old? lol

Brendan and Siobhan sleep together near the end of s2, before Niamh finds out she’s pregnant. However, at the start of s3 Niamh gives birth and it isn’t until later that Siobhan finds out she’s pregnant... does the mental math...

With both Ballykissangel tv cycles on the later seasons (i.e. without P&A) my brain has become somewhat normal again. It’s not like I couldn’t just watch it on Britbox but I need this break 😅

However last week this song was among the last tracks on Radio 6′s “Morning After Mix” and I just stood there grinning like a doofus.

They aired The Reckoning and Amongst Friends twice this week!

I have a few questions, please feel free to answer any or all, or none lol 

a) What is “the truth” Assumpta refers to? Sure, this may be rhetorical but indulge me lol

b) What was Brian coming over for? He’d gone to the pub first and Assumpta wasn’t there so he went to the next likely location?

c) What did Ambrose hope to accomplish by serving summons? If the case hadn’t been dismissed he was putting Assumpta’s license at risk, condemning them all to community service…what? Surely the risk of them all facing legal prosecution wouldn’t be worth stroking his ego.

d) How did they collectively decide Padraig should represent them? Why not Brendan, Brain or Siobhan?

e) They all arrived to court together but left in different directions? Courtesy of my husband going “Where are they all going, they came together” lol

f) Did everyone wonder where Peter and Assumpta had gone off to? Clearly they all seemed to split after leaving the courthouse, maybe for lunch or whatnot. But if everyone made it back to town and they didn’t…the looks!

g) Is Brian’s restaurant ever mentioned after Amongst Friends? The seasons after 3 did not receive my undivided attention lts

h) How long would it have taken Fr. Mac and Kathleen to realize they were the only ones not invited to the wake? Eamon even asks about Shamie lol

I’ve watched The X-Files How the Ghosts Stole Christmas every xmas for the past 5 years. Now that I have Ballykissangel’s extended As Happy as a Turkey on Boxing Day special I’ll add that to the tradition. I’ve also never seen The Flint Street Nativity, so that’s what I’ll be watching tomorrow!

S3 E2 Changing Times (spoilers) (or E3, depends whether your set counts the xmas special as separate or the start to S3) 

Before we get this scene Assumpta tells Niamh that she has decided to leave Ballykay for a little while. However it all depends on whether she can look after the pub in her absence (really, is that all it depends on?).

After Peter breaks his news Assumpta replies “At least I know I made the right decision.” She’d decided this before knowing what Peter would say or do. Was the incident in the car enough to make her runaway out of fear?

Maybe she was already planning to visit Leo but Peter’s decision drove her to marrying him? Or had she already made up her mind because she knew exactly what Peter would do but some part of her was secretly hoping that he would surprise her?
