Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

Survival is a prerequisite for character building, not a method for achieving it.

pokemon is a series about building Your own team and going on Your own adventure with creatures that You collect and befriend, and is designed from the ground up to be personal and immersive. i have never been able to look like myself in a pokemon game. if i bought pokemon z a today and booted it up and tried to customize myself, i would not be able to look like myself. just fuck me i guess.

One of the most bizarre things to come out of the last few years of press is businesses going '😭😭 what is UP with the new generation just ghosting you when they get hired for something and find something else/already started a different job/don't care 😭😭' and it's the same people who are posting fake jobs and refusing to send auto-generated 'thanks for your application but sadly we went with someone else' mass-emails. Like wow. I wonder where my generation got the idea this was acceptable behaviour. Really confusing. Someone should change something about the larger culture to deal with this maybe idk.
