Been quite a while since I did one of these! Enjoy!
Following a lengthy residency across the Alolan islands, Professor Cedar has released a new study observing behavioural variants of Lapras. Well-known as a ferrying pokemon, these Lapras have further adapted themselves to cater to specific groups seeking shelter and safer migration methods. These groups of pokemon sometime adhere themselves permanently to the Lapras’s rocky shells as mobile homes of sorts.
These variants have been cited as a possible cause for recent proliferations of pokemon that are normally culled in open sea areas or relegated to poor feeding grounds by competition; owing their newfound success to the increased protection and faster relocation these Lapras provide.
As symbiotic as most of these new relationships seem, there is a curious variant observed under debate as being a fully functional Lapras at all. The Thorncrown seems to arise from groups of the carnivorous Mareanie and Toxapex more or less hijacking a Lapras for the purpose of migrating quickly to different and far spread colonies of Corsola. Observed by Professor Cedar herself, a swarm of Mareanie and Toxapex will lock down a passing Lapras in their territory and have one of the group attach itself to the pokemon’s central nervous system located in the head. If not checked, Corsola colonies could be decimated by this terrifyingly effective new variant.
