Old vs New (Or as old as it can get...)

This’ll probably be my final post for Opal and this particular sub-blog. ...For now, anyway. I’ve got my own priorities now and I have no more time to devote to Opal. But I hope to come back to it one day. For now, have some fancy redesigns as compensation for my absence. I’ll keep this blog up for when I do return. Until then, thanks for all of your support~!!

Starter megas! To be honest, I finished these a while ago. I decided recently to redo the artwork for my Fakemon in order to redesign some aspects to it, as well as improving my artwork, and as well as going for a more promotional angle (Similar to Ethereal Gates and Cinder/Foam.)

So yeah, these might change anyway :/

I’m just posting them for the sake of... I’m not quite sure yet, to show off the designs? I’ve started redoing artwork, and have finished very little, so I don’t know how long it’ll take me.

Especially with the sudden changes that might be going on with Seasonal Overworlds...

Heeellloo, everyone! I know most updates have pretty much migrated to Relic Castle, but I just wanted you to know that I’m still trying my best to at least keep you nice and informed about this project!

It’s been going really slow lately and that may just be because I can’t seem to find a spriter. I wouldn’t know any other places to find one, neither... it’s a little discouraging, really. Despite the odds, I'm still trying to work on it.

I just feel slightly overwhelmed because I’m also trying to start work on a Webcomic. I don’t even really know how to even approach it, at this point.

But, hey. Let’s just hope I can find a spriter soon. There’s been so much support, yet no one seems to care that I need a spriter. Oh well... let’s hope one comes along.

With that in mind though, I have finished Starter evolutions! I’ll probably be finishing Megas sooner or later. You guys are seeing these earlier than my thread :O

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! Support have been pretty fantastic and has kept me on the road of making this game. I recently posted on the thread a whole bunch of crazy ideas-- go and see which ones you’d like most! Also, there’s a poll for the first mystery gift, as well.

We’ll work with your strengths. The male walking trainer has been almost finished by one of my volunteers, so I need that sprite adjusted (it just needs a backpack.) I also need the running/bike/fishing/surf sprite for him.

For the female trainer, I need all of them. Of course, I just need regular OW sprites for the rival/professor. We won’t go for fakemon since I need consistent sprites and having front sprites be done by you, and back sprites be done by someone else will be risky.

Have you always had a knack for spriting, but never for creating a Fakemon game of your own? Well, you’re invited! I desperately need a spriter for Pokemon Opal, and as you probably know, I’ve been working on it for a year now. Without one, my progress will be for naught! I want to try releasing the first demo 3-5 months from now, but that will not happen without your help!

1) How many Fakemon?

- 148! Although that number has a chance of decreasing, if we’re lucky.

2) Are you willing to pay?

- Yes! I am willing to pay for a full dex and trainer/main NPC sprites! Name your price and I could probably do it.

3) Any sprite progress?

- Very little, so far. My volunteers managed to get the male trainer done, but the sprite still needs adjustments, and its only the walking sprite. (Also, my volunteers have their own fanmade projects as well as school, so they can no longer sprite for me.)

4) Pokemon style?

- We’re going for DP style across all boards. So, if that’s your spriting style, please let me know!

5) Will I be credited?

- Of course, and fully! You will appear in the actual game’s credit, as well as the credit file that will come in the game, and credits for the Pokemon Opal Thread.

Hello, everyone! I’m here to tell you that you have the opportunity to become a part of the Opal Team! ...”Team” being only me so far, but let’s not get into semantics.;;

Anyway! I need a spriter for a full Fakemon dex, and I currently have 148 Fakemon, which shouldn’t be that many for this type of task. (A fanmade game typically has 200+ Fakemon.)

I do have two helpers, but one has school now, and both of them have projects of their own, so one of them has only done OW sprites so far. There still needs to be various adjustments to those sprites.

My second helper is willing to do Fakemon sprites, but I don’t know for how long since she has her own project and obligations. (So they’re more volunteers than official recruited team members.)

I also need a spriter for other stuff like trainer back sprites and other stuff that needs sprites. I’m also thinking of rehauling the GUI/HUD in the next demo.

I am back! And I bring you many photos from beyond. The first one features the newly revamped Thorngrove Town, the first town in the game! Then there’s Route 1, a simple and winding route. Afterwards, Fairnorth City; originally a town, but was also revamped quite a few times. Then Route 2, a much longer route known for its rather swampy disposition. Then, there’s Jadepine Town, that comes right after going though another place with a rather big event.

At first I was like in my head ‘nah, surely I can keep going with this project for now. Just another week of work~!...”

...Then I immediately started to feel irritated with myself because of how long its been. Especially since design progress has slowed down for R3 Fakemon and important NPCs. I seem to be in a bit of a, um, art slump, I guess I can call it. -3- Or at least, maybe an Opal slump.

Don’t worry, though! I’ll try to get back to it soon, but for now, things will be deserted a little ‘till I feel my motivation come back again. Like I said, this is beginning to become mandatory with me, and I quite enjoy my little breaks to do unrelated art and the like.

Main trainers have been updated and designed! Nothing much to say about them; I already got a whole heaping of help over at Relic about their anatomy. It was just a really frustrating process drawing them and I don’t want to revisit them anytime soon :/

Route 1 base Fakemon have been finished! If you’ve visited my thread, you’d probably know about them. But if you don’t here ya go~!

So, for those uninformed, the first demo of Pokemon Opal will be a Closed Demo. It’ll be released within three or so months from now, and will only be available to Relic Castle members! This is so the general public will have the best experience possible when the Beta comes out. So yeah; don’t expect a public release anytime soon. Sorry :/
