Most people see him with the cape and don't recognise him, which is the point- He'd rather not be a famous hero. The stress! The expectations! It's worse than any fight with Kasyrra!
Even as a child, Fresa's magic had always been strong. Too strong, thus unstable, dangerous. He was sent to live with a kind and wise hedge witch to learn to control it, and they were happy in their little corner of the forest. If at least only one person loved him, that was enough.
Other hedge witches visited sometimes, a circle of sorts, and they were a bit more ambitious. At some point, Fresa became less of a threat and more of a catalyst, a perfect sacrifice for a grand ritual, which would grant them greater power. Fresa had no objections to give up his burdensome life- and rigged the ritual so only his teacher would receive all of the power. She'd do a lot of good with it, and he'd stop being a concern: win win! The others would be sacrificed too, but in Fresa's mind they didn't matter, only his teacher did.
... He was a fool to think he could trick his teacher.
The whole circle of witches disappeared that day, including teacher and apprentice. There is no record of a "Fresa" in that land.
Fresa the vagabond wandered through the Marches trying to... he wasn't sure. He couldn't die after his teacher did so much to keep him alive. His magic is more stable than ever, but it's still not good for much but hurting. He never got the hang of healing like she did. So maybe that was the path for now, become an adventurer, and fight battles others can't. That'd be good. That'd be useful. That'd let him earn money, which turned to be very necessary for survival.
When he saw a pink cat lady in need one stormy night, he had to help.
On the more plot side of things, Fresa is torn by the guilt of the good his teacher would've done instead of him, and people calling him a hero while expecting him to butcher anyone corrupted. On the sillier side, he wants to live the indulgent life his teacher gave him, changing his body as he wants, hoarding precious gems and chests, and letting himself be loved and trusting his companions.

Since every animal TF has it's own special action/power, it also raises one negative stat with each use, and it's fun to think how everyone would lower it.
Fragola's Augury lets him see a bit of the future in exchange of raising Stress, the worst stat, and since he keeps using it, he needs to lower it quickly and constantly or end up passed out. The easiest is by smoking, but the usual vices also work (drinking, relaxing pills, sex, beating people up...)
Lamby's stat gains from sleeping around has his Control falter, which is why he loves organizing things and management games. When everything falls into place he feels back in control. Training with batons works when he's really freaked out. He usually avoids it spiking too badly.
Fichi tries to not use her power to look into the past, to avoid raising her Pain in the first place, but keeps painkillers and muscle relaxers just in case. Beauty routines and spa treatments tend to work more gradually but safely. The one who could unlock half the town's secrets if it wasn't physically painful to do so + she doesn't care + pay her
Cuya's Trauma is... not good! And he keeps using his power to look into people's inner desires to see who could be an ally or foe, so it keeps rising! Deals with it in a healthy way by going to the sea to swim with animals, or to the aquarium to spend the day, but when it's really bad he can age regress to when he was protected by Bailey in the child's ward.
Loupe is still figuring it out, but what gets raised is his Fatigue. It's a simple fix, just a good sleep session, but he has too much to do to stop and properly recover so it accumulates. Ends up falling asleep at random (safe) times, but it's pretty hard to wake up.
Lemonade doesn't really have a power aside being a plantperson and changing their body, so they also kill anyone, but they do eat the corpses to rejuvenate and keep their human form longer. Also its tasty.
Of course, for all of them, the one way to lower the negative stats to 0 in one go are the Blood Moon Sacrifices. It's fun for Fragola, affirming for Lamby, rejuvenating for Fichi, and therapeutic for Cuya.
