Podunk Elftown

Nothing they do seems to impact the environment negatively, especially with the inclusion of gnomes as part of the teams that build large structures. Yeah, a lot of it comes down to the clean tech they have but people still had to have the prescience to create them and protect the environment. Sometimes they even improve it with stuff like pures and I’m guessing other things since elves seem particular about the areas they live in.

The whole economic equality thing with birth funds and free education. People have been discontent with their social standing but literally nobody has hated their job (I think, I haven’t read past book 7 oop) or had trouble getting necessities. Even large families with once source of income like Dex’s have no trouble and live in equally opulent spaces to the Vackers.

Ignoring secret organizations. Black swan and Neverseen were operating for decades, maybe centuries under the councils nose. They did catch Prentice but they got nothing and decided to do nothing until Fitz found the Swan-spawn. They also didn’t know about Neverseen’s existence until they kidnapped Sophie. And without that we’d never have gotten the book series <3

1. Nico becomes Tams teacher and teaches him to shadow travel and stuff. First there’s the age stuff, Nico is like 15 and 97 at the same time so he pulls the seniority card and the ‘but I’m younger’ card at his leisure. Second, Tam would LOVE Camp Halfblood. Third at some point Will sits in on one of the lessons and that day is when Tam finds out what gay is. His reaction is like finding out you can juice a banana.

2. The gods are all elves, but like an older really blood pure version and all the elves in the lost cities are legacies who got weak minds as their version of Frank’s piece of wood. Sophie doesn’t find out about this until later and none of the elves know what except maybe Forkle since he did impersonate Loki a few times.

3. Sophie first meets Percy when he’s on his way to see Hades, since that takes place in California. Grover notices there’s something off about her and invites her to Camp Halfblood.

4. ALTERNATIVELY Sophie find out about New Rome when her family is visiting some relatives in the area and Sophie hears way too many thoughts on on an empty hill. After finding New Rome she spends her school breaks “visiting family” but sneaks to New Rome.

5. After she learns to teleport Sophie visits camp/ New Rome semi often. She has to get a pass for Sandor or else he threatens to spill the beans.

6. Sophie can kind of fight since she was trained to but she’s too scared to use celestial bronze/ imperial gold on elves because she’s scared they would go poof like monsters (though the blow would have to be fatal for that to happen now that I think of it)

7. When Sophie first meets Fitz she thinks he looks like a British Percy.

8. The first pjo book was released in 2005 and Percy was 12 which means if Sophie was 12 in 2012, when she leaves for the elf world, the big war is about to start. In other words she’s leaving her friends, the only ones who really accept her, when they’re about to die in a war.

9. The reason Sophie asks the Council to make her family a forget her rather thank think she’s dead stays the same but with the added part of her having a tiny hop they won’t get any of her friends at camp/ new Rome.

10. Sophie iris messages camp but she can’t do it too often or else someone might walk in on her.

11. Sophie calls over Percy when she’s training Silveny since he can understand horses. This is when Sophie finds out Havenfield is actually pretty close to New York. Also Percy brings Black Jack one time and Silveny absolutely hated him, like she was too good to be fraternizing with a pottymouth.

12. Sophie doesn’t say Percy isn’t an elf. He’s got blue eyes so it’s believable but he does have a slight accent (American or New York) when he speaks Enlightened language. Also, everyone keeps wondering how Sophie became best friends with some random elf when she literally never goes anywhere accept Foxfire, Havenfield, and the Vacker estate. Mr Forkle helps her out and says Percy was introduced by Black swan to be an older brother figure while Sophie was human.

13. Sophie learned to be mischievous from her Hermes cabin friends, she thinks Keefe and them would hit it off. One of them die in the battle with titans and Sophie plants a wanderling for them at camp.

14. Sophie never got too injured in a fight so she never had ambrosia/ nectar. She’s too scared to eat it since she didn’t know if elves were godly enough to not have their blood turn to fire upon consumption but she does have a bag. Maybe she uses it to try save Mr Forkle in book 5

Are they cognates because Fitz trusts her or does he trust her because they’re cognates?

The only reason they were paired up was because at the end of book 1, Fitz broke into Sophie’s mind while she was faded and vulnerable from 3 weeks of torture and sedation, and none of the adults realized it wasn’t a genuine connection. Before that, Fitz lowk didn’t care about Sophie, he was just being nice and a good friend. His gift for her after midterms was a friggin pen and Sophie was mainly just crushing on him. Only after finding out they could be cognates did Fitz start taking interest.

Whenever the gang finds out Sophie was keeping a secret, he’s like “but we’re cognates” as if the only reason she should’ve told him so was because of that instead of the two being friends. Fitz is the type of guy to not like being vulnerable. If he’s having a hard time he gets angry and trains with Grizel, but he HAS to be real Sophie or else no more cognate-hood. Which does he want, Sophie or being a cognate? Idk, hence the question at the top.

(I’ve gotten to book 7 but I don’t want to keep looking for something in a place it doesn’t exist. The series does have a good plot but the token human representation makes me sad in n interesting way)

Like I get that sometimes characters are like “gosh humans have it so bad” like when Livvy was talking about why she joined Black Swan, but I always find myself wondering ifuniquely human vocabulary like racism, bigotry, and terrorism is even relevent to the plot if they aren’t brought up at all. Is the matchmaking system just thinly veiled eugenics? I think so but the book only ever talks about freedom of love (which is funny when queer relationships are never brought up, though I’m only on book 7).

Ps I’ve only read until book 7 so this stuff would be outdated by now but please enjoy.

Fitz: he’s had the most exposure to humans but didn’t really interact with them like this. He’s happy to support Sophie but worried they might get caught. Is surprised when Sophie started cheering like no tomorrow for Amy, she’s never been that loud before (Sophie was practicing the day before but that only comes out in cognate training). Fitz tried to buy something but his English was so accented the store clerk couldnt understand

Alden: only came because the council only let her come with a chaperone. He’s slightly reminded of when Alvar graduated. gained a new understanding/ camaraderie with humans (i.e they’re not so evil or different from us) he lets Sophie talk to Amy for a bit after the ceremony even though that wasn’t technically allowed.

Biana: she really wanted to explore the human world more, Sophie loses her for like 30 minutes. She takes note of people’s clothes, especially the immigrant families wearing cultural clothing. Afterwards she Sophie and Amy snuck away to get lunch together at Qudoba or something, anywhere that had vegan options, Sophie and Amy most definitely ate meat and Biana was scandalized.

Grady and Edaline: we’re very excited to see how Sophie grew up, but Grady was a bit protective at first since elves don’t have the best impression of humans. Extra points if the high school is Henry W. Grady Highschool (which is Atlanta) since it was renamed to Midtown high bc HW Grady was a bad person. Idk much about Edaline, she’d support Sophie but she has so little presence I don’t know what she’d do.

Dex: probably the most excited out of the whole group. He’s seen graduations in the human movies. Maybe the most disappointed too, it lasted like 3 hours, most of the speeches were boring, and they didn’t throw the caps. He still cheered for Amy with Sophie. They walked around a bit after the graduation. He had a moment looking at all the cars, probably because they were so energy inefficient. He was talking to a person who nodded the hell out of his car and Dex said a few offhand things on how to improve the car, probably changing that guys life forever.

I kinda got this idea from Saiki K. He’s also a telepath who can’t turn it off and likes watching tv shows because he can’t hear the actors’ thoughts through the tv screen.

They really tried to help humans high nuclear energy and chocolate and made them worse off.

Like I can say there was overwhelming hate/ fear directed a certain group of people after a huge violent event and now they can’t openly practice without looking over their shoulder and even I would have no idea if I’m talking about Muslims or Pyrotechnics.
