This is a good one. Yeah, I completely agree that it’s way too harsh of a series. Honestly, there’s points where the show literally feels like misery porn. I have to sit through, like, 17 episodes of Steven feeling like everyone he loves is moving on, moving away, doesn’t give a shit about him, watching his entire support structure fall apart. Then I have 2 episodes of him having a complete breakdown.

And then... you just say “Oh, he’s in therapy. He’s getting better.” WHAT? Why the fuck did I sit through all that misery? And then in the final episode Steven is going around giving everyone goodbye presents? The gems still aren’t emotionally opening up and caring for him the way he needs? Everyone in Beach City waves goodbye from the Big Donut instead of, like, a party?

It’s a great show, I love it but... yeah. I don’t know why they decided to go that direction with the ending or the pacing of the show.

I do have a theory though.

mmm gonna have to disagree. However, even though i like her, I think the way more die-hard jasper fans aggressively defend her puts other people off. It took me a really long time to warm up to her. 

There were literally fans that stanned jasper immediately after the return, even though she was nothing but a brute at that point? I didn’t get it at all. I took no sides in the lapis/jasper war but I get that she was abused in the whole malachite relationship. I also get that, because lapis is dainty and jasper is absolutely built, many people unjustly blamed jasper for a situations that was actually lot more grey.  It wasn’t till beta/earthlings aired that we finally got a good look into her psyche, and although she still wasn’t my favourite, I could appreciate the complexity in her character.

Well, Agates share an almost identical body type as quartzes cause they are quartz gems as well. I don’t think she has to look exactly like holly blue to be considered an agate. However we don’t really know anything about her from before. For all we know, she could’ve been a crystal gem before being corrupted, and part of her rebellion look was letting down her hair(?) Maybe her hair was kept in a big, curly bun, with the wavy curls that flow down to her chest. Or maybe her hair was always down, and she just dressed a bit more formal than a quartz soldier due to her position in the caste system.

That also brings me to another point, which is that the highest ranking type of agates are holly blue agates, due the lack of markings on her gem, which could be considered impurities. This would make her be the exemplary agate by design.
