*mini headcanon ↳ Adam and caring for smaller robots
I mean literally based on real threads I’ve had where Adam is taking care of deviant roombas and most recently the space core from portal 2. And imagine Adam sneaking into the observatory after hours, carrying the core and this procession of roombas trailing after them. They walk into that big spherical room. He turns on the projectors and it’s just the core wrapped up in his arms, a bunch of little roombas humming at his feet while they’re all bathed in stars. @plsrecruitmenasa
so this is a headcanon from the first time i ever roleplayed space core back in 2011 before indie rping was indie rping (it was just... rping back then). but now i’m re-writing it and actually putting it on here.
all of the cores had personalities shoved into them, much like caroline and GLaDOS. when GLaDOS started getting a bit more testy- they tried to download one of the scientists’ son, case---- who was dubbed ‘spacey casey’ by fellow scientists. he was only the age of four when he was put up to test the new downloading software. the transferal of his personality wasn’t supposed to kill him until something in the program went rogue until the only option to save her son was to download him into the sphere. already defeated as she had lost her husband two years prior, the scientist decided to save her son instead of losing him entirely.

He picks up the little sphere and looks around as if looking for the parent of a child. First, it was dealing with deviant roombas, now it was dealing with……….uh….what……what was this….??
From the way the amber light of its eye erratically flitted around, you would think that it was seeing the world for the first time. Adam’s hands were literally gyroscopically stable, and yet even he had a hard time keeping it steady. A quirk of his brow. It was practically vibrating with excitement.

HOW ADORABLE ..
when he notices her smile, the android is full of JOY. it’s optic whirrs around inside of it’s contained ball and keeps going ‘ oh boy oh boy oh boy ! ‘ humans are such a DELIGHT to work around ! oh how he misses the humans. the scientists were always so nice. so helpful. would tell him facts about space. oh space ! oh how he wanted to go to space. “ lady, you have a nice smile ! “ he finally compliments, bobbing up and down. “ ---- like a bunch of nebulas !! “
he’s just humming in delight. excited little sphere noises. that’s all.
