can everyone just stop this nonsense and replace “western” with “white”, “western team” with “team with any number of white people regardless of however many players who aren’t from western countries are on that same team bc we find empowerment in projecting onto white players therefore the identity of whites should be at the forefront while ignoring and erasing that of the korean players even if they’re on that exact same team”, and “eastern” with “koreans bc we feel threatened by their collective and harmfully generalized success since the narrative should be white dominance and anything else discomforts our baby brains so we need to squeeze that group of people into a commodity that fits as the foil to our western narrative, dehumanizing and villainizing them so ppl will empathize with us under the guise of ‘underdogs’, but targeting an ethnicity by specifically naming them seems racist so we need a more general term even if using that term in this context sounds weird as fuck and is still, in fact, racist“
