So a couple of my friends have been trying to get me to sign up for this so I finally did. I think I get paid solely on how many people click the link, not how many people sign up (although that would help). So if you just click the link, I get credit. You don’t even have to sign up. I’ll let y’all know if this works or not so you can sign up if you want to. Thanks!

So, this week, I thought it’d be a good idea to put together a bunch of songs to listen to when you’re having a rough go of it. Even if you’re not, it’s great to listen to songs that keep your mood elevated. So, get ready to feel a little better about your life, if only for the duration of this playlist.

Dock of the Bay - The Mend
While my heart and soul lies with the original version, this rendition of Dock of the Bay is one of my favorites. It’s fun, it’s funky, and it’s bound to lift your spirits. If you love old classics with a modern twist, this is definitely the song for you.
Home - Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros
Admittedly, this song probably isn’t in everyone’s taste, but even if you’re not typically into the folk sound, I truly recommend it if you need to crack a smile. It’s a tune that I can only really describe as “adorable” and it’s definitely one of my go-tos right now.
Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons
We all know this one. And we all know that, even though the lyrics aren't necessarily happy, it is a great song to sing along to at full volume. I've found that it's especially good for letting out any pent-up emotions. So, if you need some sort of release, turn this up as loud as you can stand it and then sing it even louder.
Everlasting Arms - Vampire Weekend
Honestly, I just added this one for the beat. It’s funky and bass-led and it just makes me really happy. Hopefully, it’ll have the same effect for you.
At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used To Be) - fun.
Yeah, I’m doing it. I’m bringing fun. back. They were fun (no pun intended) and you know it. And sometimes, they can be just what you need for a little pick me up.
This Must Be My Dream - The 1975
So, if you haven't listened to the new The 1975 album yet, I really recommend you do. It's gotten more personal and more beautiful, and this song is a perfect representation of that. It's a good song to get a little lost in if you need it.
Dog Days Are Over - Florence + The Machine
I love Florence's voice and I don't really know anyone who doesn't. So, the vocals in this song alone should be enough to lift your mood. Not to mention the bouncy, uplifting beat and gorgeous melody. This song is definitely one for the ages and perfect for a little lift on a rough day.
Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac
Throwback time! Fleetwood Mac has always been my first stop when I’m feeling down and low. Now, while I would normally choose Landslide (obviously), Everywhere has such an amazing melody to it that really settles under your skin and makes you feel, to put it simply, happy.
Honey & I - HAIM
This is my favorite Haim song because it's just so light. It reminds me of summer in that it’s a great song to cruise to. The drumbeat is infectious and the harmonies are on point. So, let the sunshine in and crank it up.
Wherever Is Your Heart - Brandi Carlile
This tune is one that I found on accident, and I'm really glad I did. Much like Brandi’s vocals, the track itself is really pretty while still having a strong core, which is something I personally look for in a feel-good song.
Early In The Morning, I’ll Come Calling - James Vincent McMorrow
This track is simple and lovely and just easy to listen to. I think it’s a great way to end this playlist because it’s just soft enough to calm you, but uplifting enough to keep you in a pleasant mood. Between the instrumentation and the harmonies, it’s just a beautiful and peaceful song.
Honorable Mention - Glockenspiel Song - Dog Is Dead
Okay, so the only reason this isn’t on the main playlist is because it’s not on Spotify (for shame). It’s one of my favorite songs and it really takes me back to a simpler time because the first time I heard it was on an episode of Skins back in high school. It’s just a really great, fun song with (in my opinion) incredible lyrics. I could listen to it all day.

So, I made a playlist about getting stoned this week. No, this is not an April Fool’s joke. This is a thing that I actually did. (Disclaimer: I do not condone the illegal use of marijuana. Ahem.) So, for those of you (in four states) that like to indulge in a little sum-sum from time to time (or all the time), this one’s for you. Let’s get weird.

Chocolate - The 1975
For those of you that didn't know, this song's not actually about chocolate. I know. Shocker. If you’ve ever been to a The 1975 show before, though, you’ll know just how awesome this song can be. And if you haven’t, you can just turn it up and have a little concert all on your own.
Paper Planes - M.I.A.
M.I.A. is one of the realest artists out there, and thank God for this song, because it put her on the map. It’s got a fun, funky beat with the type of risqué lyrics that we all love. Plus, it’s versatile, so whether you’re the type to stay in and chill or go out and party, this absolute tune is perfect for whatever kind of night you’re planning on having.
Habits (Stay High) - Tove Lo
This song came out two years ago now and it’s still bangin’. If you're looking to forget someone or just to jam, this is a great tune.
Young, Wild, & Free - Snoop Dogg
There were two solid summers where everyone seemed to only listen to this song. And that's understandable. It's mellow and makes you feel like you're way cooler than you probably are.
Might Be - Anderson Paak
Okay, so this is easily one of my favorite songs right now. It's slow and sexy, which, as we all know by now, are two of my favorite things. Personally, I think it's perfect for this playlist, but, of course, I wouldn't know anything about that.
Day ‘N’ Nite - Kid Cudi
Regardless of if you’re flying high right now, this is a great late-night jam. It’s got the perfect beat to get loose to and the perfect lyrics to get lost in. Kid Cudi knows how to make music that you’ll probably never want to stop listening to. In fact, I wouldn’t blame you if you put this on repeat for a little while before continuing on. Go ahead. I know you want to.
Pass Dat - Jeremih
Fun fact: this is actually the song that inspired this playlist. A few weeks ago, I spent about a week listening to nothing but the Late Nights album, which, if you haven’t listened to it beginning to end, do it. Now. I promise you will not regret it.
Pursuit Of Happiness - Kid Cudi
What? Two Kid Cudi songs in one playlist? Yes. Because this isn’t just any playlist. Oh, no. This is a special playlist. Plus, what was I gonna do? NOT put this in? Please.
Because I Got High - Afroman
If you've never heard this song before, prepare yourself. It's ridiculous, it's funny, it's a little bit sad if you listen hard enough. Frankly, it's perfect.
Red - Laid Blak
So, if any of you are die-hard Ed Sheeran fans, you’ve heard some semblance of this song before. For those of you who aren’t, he used to throw it in his You Need Me I Don’t Need You performances. It was amazing. Anyway, this is a great tune with a fun reggae vibe that's really hard not to enjoy.
The Next Episode - Dr. Dre
I’m not even gonna write a blurb for this one. You know why I put it in.

So, as we speak, I am in California! For the first time! Can you tell I’m excited? Anyway, in honor of my trip, this week’s playlist is all about Cali. So, whether you’re also spending the weekend under the sun, or just wishing you were, put this playlist on and take the trip with me.

Sunset Blvd - Emblem 3
So, if you watched The X Factor USA during it’s short run, you’ll remember this bop. Emblem 3 made a hell of an impression when they were one of the few acts to audition with an original. This song very quickly became their legacy, and it should be. It’s fun and infectious and if you haven’t heard it yet, well. You’re welcome.
California Gurls - Katy Perry
I feel like everyone has a soft spot for this song, no matter how reluctant they are to admit it. It was the summer song of 2010, which, as we all know, was a much simpler time. Anyway, it’s still a fun song to listen to from time to time, especially when the sun’s out.
California Love - 2Pac
It would be a sin not to add this classic. Definitely one of Pac’s more well-known songs, it embodies happiness and fun and everything you could wish for from California.
Beverly Hills - Weezer
Oh, man. If there were any song to sum up my 8th grade year, this is it. It’s a classic Weezer tune and it’s so easy to just shout out. Try it, it’s some of the most fun you can have for free.
Paradise City - Guns N Roses
This song carries very fond memories for me. My family’s always been on the musical side, and my dad used to sing this to us all the time. Apart from just taking me back, it’s got that classic rock feel that I love.
Fake Tales Of San Francisco - Arctic Monkeys
The Arctic Monkeys’ first album is still my favorite of theirs, and this is one of the best songs on it. It’s got a great, mellow groove that only great pop rock artists can do right. If you’re not familiar with AM’s earlier stuff, I could not recommend it enough because there’s more where this came from.
West Coast - Lana Del Rey
Lana seems to be an artist that you either hate or love and I’ve always loved her voice. It’s just so sultry soft on this track, and the vibey guitar is a perfect accompaniment.
California Girls - The Beach Boys
Another total classic, this absolute tune is the perfect soundtrack for a beach day. It’s bop-y and light and has the type of melody that you don’t hear anymore.
California Dreamin’ - The Mamas & The Papas
If for nothing else, this song is so great just for the harmonies. It’s one of the best laid-back tunes to belt out, and you can bet that’s exactly what I’ll be doing this weekend.
Hotel California - The Eagles
Easily one of the best tunes out there, this is the type of song that takes you to another world. Between the storytelling lyrics and insane guitar solo, there’s plenty to make this track absolutely timeless.
California King Bed - Rihanna
If you’d forgotten about this tune, well, I have to admit, I had, too. And I am ashamed. Because it’s still such a great song. Rihanna doesn’t do slow that often, but when she does, she does it right. And this song is just so, so right.
