“My apartment’s haunted.” Devon declared.
Taren and Devon had been at the library studying for a few classes they had throughout the week. Their other friend Foster had abandoned them to go to work. That was probably for the best. If she had been around then forget it, she’d be leaving anyway and not even bothering with Devon’s nonsensical statement.
Thankfully, Taren was not like her. Instead of questioning him, he just pried onto the statement.
“Okay. So you think your flat’s haunted. What makes you think that?”
“My shit keeps moving around!” He exclaimed as loud as a whisper would allow in the library. “Like, a glass fell off the counter two days ago. That’s spooky, right?”
“Pretty spooky, yeah.” Taren agreed, intrigued with where he was going with all of this.
“It’s weird, dude. Like, what should I do about? Charge it rent, tell it to go away, sage the shit outta the place?”
Taren blinked a few times, staring at his friend with a dumbfounded expression. “There’s a ghost… haunting your flat, and your first priority is whether to charge them rent or not? Not even saging the place is first.”
“Well, yeah. I’m living by myself so if this ghost is haunting it then I’m going to need that fifty percent rent by the first of the month, no questions.”
Taren laughed a bit before going back to his notebook. “That’s a surefire way to make a ghost leave, charge them rent.”
“You think?” Devon asked sincerely.
He looked up at his friend. Devon was seriously contemplating it and it was starting to legit worry Taren.
“Dude, get a bundle of sage and sage the hell out of the place and you’ll be fine. Or maybe try the rent thing first and then sage the place like “how do you like that you ghost fuckers” or something like that.”
Devon gave him a thumbs up. “Gotchu fam squad.”
Instead of a verbal response, he returned a thumbs up to his friend. Gosh, he was so exhausting but Taren would trade that odd little Canadian for anything.
