The more i think about it the more i think the writers wrote the ending right... Na hee do is just 21 ( and that's Korean age.. She's 19 really) she has been neglected her whole life by her mother... She doesn't want to waste away hey youth waiting and waiting.. And tbh even thought she said " i can't.. I just can't"
she really didn't need yijin to full fill her. That is why she's shown to have great Friendships.she's also fiercely independent. ( she doesn't really call yijin when she got hurt... There were so many scenes Really )
Also i don't think she really understands how much pressure yijin is under to make this work ( i mean he didn't even go to clg... He has debt.. And he has to bring his family together). She hadn't really faced financial troubles so I don't think she really got it.. As she said they were good together in the good times but in the bad times bad ( yijin ran way wen trouble struck... Hee dos support didn't really make a difference when he was in new York etc etc)
Also 9/11 is a huge thing ( he's 23 here people)
... he had a perfect life. He was popular.. He was in two clubs.. In college... And in a moment... All lost.. He hadn't really dealt with failure so feeling like a failure was the worst to him... For him, being successful was important
. How little sense would it have it made for him that na hee do would get to angry over him being busy trying to get to his dream.... You could say they just didn't get together at the right time...at the right age... baek yi jin would have been busy even later... But na hee do would have understood later in life.. But she was right in not waiting... At least she must have made a lot of happy memories with mr kim and that's why she forgot about the beach scene...so what he is on business trip now...we don't really know anything about their relationship...
. Again i think she kept so much memorabilia from that time and named her workshop 25 21 becoz for her loving yijin taught her so much about herself ( she said that herself... She is a really unique character). ( also note that all that stuff was in grandmas house not hers)
Also we can be really nostalgic about a person and don't want him / her back in life...don't tell me you guys haven't felt it... You miss the memories the moments.. The joy.... But at the end of it you remember the hurt.. So you don't want that person back.
The end still hurts but it makes me grow as a person.. And realize the important thing is to live your life fullest without any regrets ( na hee do did that... She kissed when she felt it.. And broke up when she realized it doesn't work for her... She stayed true to herself even though it hurt her too) and to MOVE ON ( most of us have lost people that we really thought we couldn't live without.. Humans are so much more resilient than we think).
Moving on doesn't mean you don't miss them and your memories together some times.
It doesn't mean you don't enjoy your present life...
