Plant Power

You might be know this little plastic nets around your garlic, onions and lemons ect. This nets have mostly the colour of your vegetable or fruit. 

I had some thoughts in my previous project to use the nets to knit with or turning into some new plastic. What is possible but to be realistic there need to be a lot of nets to create something like a filament for a 3D printer. 

For a longer time I collect this very colourful nets, they have something in them. This time I do a experiment with filling this nets with a mixture of soil and some seeds of lettuce and beans. Hanging the nets above the window for catching some sun.

The idea is to try for find an solution for this plastic nets without throwing it away. I know it’s not a big solution for now but maybe it’s a start for an idea as an surfaces whats hanging around without taking to much space in our homes. Where we can grow some fresh vegetables and reuse our plastic nets! 

Sourdough - 

I love to bake - cakes, cookies, pie’s but never tried to make sourdough bread. Had never a clue or motivation to give it a try. So here we are at the moment where I tested 3 different experiments. 

1. 1:1 water/ flour -> without a cloth on top (did nothing and it’s to much water)

2. 1:1 water/ flour -> with a cloth on top (was to dry + mold)

3. On intuition water/ flour -> with a cloth on top and keep it in a warm place like the oven (works!)

During the project ‘Green Lab’ I will blogging about everything what I’m doing in the next 3 months. It’s a dairy for myself. To give myself structure in the times of Corona and find a way to sharing my experiments, ideas, research and fascinations. 

In this research I will try to find connections between my own daily life, plants/food and textile/surface design.
