Another great tank by these german team! It is their GAPLC 2014 entry.
Hi, I was wondering what your opinion was on cleaning found objects for freshwater aquariums. Like sticks or rocks. And what about shells? If boiled/bleached, could these things be safe for an aquarium? How do you do so?
Good Question. Personally I boil everything. I have a propane turkey cooker that I fill with water and boil everything for at least 15 minutes. I've never had any problems using this method.
Look how pretty they are

I forgot about this plant. I grew it years ago but I don't think it liked my hard water. Colorful plant though.

Beautiful Scape made in Britain.
Nice!
I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have something so beautiful sitting in my own living room.
Hey! I was just wondering could you recommend some plants for an angel tank with a bristlenose plec in it too I'm looking for some tall plants that the angels could hide in and maybe some plants that will form a carpet across the substrate, the substrate I have is sand. I'm at a bit of a loss cos I don't know much about plants so I need easy ones to take care of. Thank you!
Amazon Swords, anacharis, hornwort, valisneria, for tall, chain swords, hairgrass, for short. If you are just using sand, you will have to be sure to fertilize with root tabs. Also plants tend to have a hard time carpeting on sand because it is so fine. Good Luck and be sure to post some pics.

Hi! So I was wondering if maybe you could give me some advice. I have six bettas in their own separate tanks, and I'm really interested in researching the concept of walstad fully-planted tanks. Does your book cover all of that, like what substrates to use that are safe, etc? I would essentially like to get them heavily planted so that cleaning them would be extremely easy. But also, I'm in college, and I don't know as something like that has any efficient way of transportation.
Yes, my book does cover Low-tech tanks and substrates like Walstad uses. If your betta tanks are small enough to easily transport drained, I would just siphon the water out and leave the plants planted in the substrate. They should be fine as long as they stay moist. You could just bring a spray bottle and mist them for time to time if you are going for a long distance. I hope this helps.
