no one tells you how much of life takes practice. not just writing, painting, running, singing, etc, but practicing how to make friends. how to make the right ones. getting practiced at how to be a good friend, a good sibling, a good person. practice identifying when people haven’t earned that. learning to recognize your right to rage and, eventually, how to offer mercy. so much of life is muscle memory, and i’ve begun to realize there are so many more parts of ourselves to flex and stretch and strengthen than those we’re taught in anatomy lessons

Love is not an emotion you feel. It is a relationship you maintain. Every moment, you may choose to act on a bond that exists between you and a subject of your love, or to not; you can choose to be loving or not in the same way you can choose whether to in this moment be running, or hiding, or working, or playing, or helping, or harming. When you show someone they are seen, when you treat another as an equal, when you delight in their complexity, when you include someone in your plans for the future, when you give comfort and permit yourself to accept comfort, these are love. To be loved, then, is to be seen, included, inquired, comforted, and trusted in ways which are open, persistent, and intentional.

This is why so many emotions are tangled up in love. It is a way of living among others, and life is full of emotions. It is also why it is so dangerous to be without it. To be unloved is to be categorically misunderstood, unincluded, and untrusted. That pain is real, and that pain is important.

Please take the time to love. Please practice love to and for yourself. Especially when it is difficult, especially when it seems pointless, especially when it would be easier to harm yourself in whatever creative way you can. When no one else will love you, love you.

Also starting a new music project and people actually responding to it and liking it. I’ve had two official releases this year and working on my third one right now and just rediscovering my love for writing music again. I’m forever grateful for that.

I’ve also been able to be apart of so many amazing art shows this year. I don’t have many photos because I’m so bad at taking photos with my phone but I had 4 shows in SoCal and 4 shows in Portland this year. I wish I had more photos but it makes me so happy that people even see potential in me or even like what I create.

One thing I’m very proud of this year is writing and creating two short films this year; “REM” and “North Park Blocks”. I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve gotten the chance to showcase both of them at film festivals. I never thought that I would be able to do something like that. This upcoming year I’m working on 3 more short films and I’m so excited. This year has honestly been incredible for me. I am beyond grateful,I have no words.
