16. neck kiss.

The two were stretched across Bonnie's bed, legs and ankles tangled together. They were both facing the wall, Elena curled around Bonnie's smaller frame so that her nose was pressed in against her shoulder. They'd started out talking, about anything and everything they could think of, until Bonnie had fallen asleep due to Elena's insistence to gently run her fingernails up and down Bonnie's arm.

Elena didn't mind. She had plenty to think about in the silence anyway, but no more than five minutes passed before Bonnie stirred. Twisting out of her hold, she lay on her back, a tired groan resonating in her throat as her grassy green eyes fell onto Elena who was still curled on her side.

“How long was I asleep?”

The question caused the corners of Elena's lips to tug up into a smile.

“About three hours,” Elena teased.

A shocked expression fell on Bonnie's features and her brows pulled together. “Seriously??”

A giggle slipped, and by the playful glare she received, she knew Bonnie got the gist. She propped herself up a little more and leaned down to hover over her girlfriend's lips. “Five minutes tops,” she answered honestly this time before stealing a quick kiss. She would have let her sleep for hours if that had been the case, but truth be told she would much rather be doing this.

Cool fingertips were suddenly against the skin just under Elena's shirt and she felt goosebumps pimple her flesh. Another smile graced her features and she kissed her again, this one not so short and sweet. This one was slow, but with no shortage of intensity to it. Having learned her other half inside and out she'd found one of the quickest ways to get her attention was to really kiss her, to put as much fire into it as she could muster; and for Bonnie, she could conjure up just about anything she needed to in order to make her happy.

it left her with only one option; caroline would champion this crusade. she had always been an emotional beacon, easily swayed by the happiness and agony of others, and she knew eventually she would breakdown from the sadness of it all; everyone was mourning.

                 ❝maybe what we need is a ‘pick me up’, right?                     that’s what we do isn’t it?❞

she can't finish the sentence. she refuses to say that they died, even though she doesn't know how else to describe it.

           ❝You don’t need to thank me, Elena.              I mean, it’s the least I can do with ——              well, everything. Just… don’t mention it.❞

           ❝Yeah… have to say it’s pretty good to be back, too.❞

     ❝I do need to thank you.        Because I've barely said        two words to you since...                                 everything.❞

     ❝jelly legs would be a pretty accurate        description of me. even for a v---...        a former cheerleader.❞
