We all know that Fai wearing the furisode is extremely telling (for the uninformed, furisode are worn by unmarried women–or the male lovers of samurai). But when you consider that the one who put him in it was 99.999999% Tomoyo–Tomoyo Daidouji, who has been Sakura’s costume designer since 1996 and puts a great deal of thought and energy into all outfits, no matter what world she’s in–it’s even MORE meaningful.

Tomoyo knew EXACTLY what she was doing. She took Fai back with her and got him calmed down (well, as calm as he could be, anyway; you know he spent the entire time asking her when he could go back and see Kurogane, but he would have just been an emotional wreck the entire time and in the way). She helps him wash off all the blood–his, Ashura’s, Kurogane’s–and gives him a furisode to wear, knowing full what she would be implying with that.

the natural lifespan of a fandom is unlimited. when well tended a fandom can be functionally immortal. and yet everywhere you look you see newly bred fandoms withering and dying when they’re barely a year old. barely even six months old. fans are looking at their six month old fandoms and saying i think it’s on its last legs, should i euthanise it? when with the proper care that fandom could outlive them for decades. it’s sad. sad state of affairs we’re in.
