Duke Paoa Kahinu Mokoe Hulikohola Kahanamoku was born on August 24, 1890 in Honolulu. Before he became a surfer, Duke was an Olympic swimmer responsible for winning 3 gold medals and two silver medals. He is credited with spreading the sport of surfing around the world. There is a yearly contest named after Duke called the Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship. Duke died on January 22, 1968 of a heart attack.

Since 1989, Pipeline has claimed the lives of six surfers and one surf photographer, whose names are Andy Chuda (Died March 25,1989), Travis Mussleman (Died March 20, 2000), Moto Watanabe (Died January 19, 2004), Jon Mozo (Died February 9, 2005, he is the photographer), Malik Joyeux (Died December 2, 2005), Joaquin Velilla (January 12, 2007) and Joshua Nakata (Died March 16, 2008).

Carissa Moore learned how to surf from her father. She rode her first wave when she was 4 years old. She is the ASP Women’s World Tour Championship of 2011 and 1013. She won 6 ASP Women’s World Tour Events, 2 ASP WQS 6-Star events. Carissa was praised for ‘balance and movement’ at the age of 2 years old. She was surfing by herself at the age of 4 and competing by the age of 6. When her parents separated her mother tried to push her towards more girly things. But Carissa didn’t want to. Each year or two, she would move up to a higher level or tougher competition. She started her first ASP World Tour in 2009. She came in third place because she skipped an event to graduate from high school. In 2010, she was accepted to the Association of Surfing Professionals Women’s World Tour. She has attracted three sponsors in her two years because she ranked up to 225,000 in purse money. The three sponsors were Red Bull, Target and Nike.

“I’m kind of nervous, but I’m also really excited,” says Moore. “I’m being realistic about what is going to happen. The guys I’m surfing against have a few more years and more experience on me, so I probably won’t make a heat, but if I do, great. That would be awesome.”

From May 4th 1946 to March 17th Eddie was well known for surfing and being a lifeguard. When he was a lifeguard he saved multiple peoples lives on Waimea Bay in Oahu. He became famous by surfing in the Big Hawaiian Surf. He won the Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship and also several more.

Living in Hawaii and the natural beauty that surrounds her on a daily basis. The land, the flora, the expansive ocean that surrounds her and Aloha of people, is what inspires Heather the most. What Heather try to Portray to people through her work and art is simply to make people happy. She does it because she wants everyone to remember the great times or to take them to a special place or site that's they have in their mine. Heather has done it, and has been told by many collectors that her painting she does always makes them " happy."

Heather Brown:

Heather Brown is a  local artist on the North Shore of Oahu. she has received her Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with an emphasis in printmaking. As Heather is also an ambassador for foam magazine and " artist of the search" for rip curl, she proud and represents women surfers and artists. Alot of her insiration comes from the love she has for the sea, nature, popular surf breaks. and the beauty of islands. Posted By Tyler

Wax-Surfers would also normal wax there boards as well efore going out on the water. Wax can come in different sense and different temperatures. The wax helps enhance the boards performance on the water. 

Since surfers don’t eat fast food or any food that is genetically modified. So they make their own food. Fruit salad is one of a lot recipes to make for yourself.

Dressing: 1/3 cup fresh lime juice 1 1/2 tablespoons honey 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger or minced fresh ginger

Eating something before surfing is healthy because it keeps your from getting any injuries, cramps and having energy. To be a healthy surfer you have to:

1. Eating a healthy balanced meal every day

2. Drink lots of clean clear water to stay hydrated.

3. Don’t drink alcohol every night, just once in a while.

4. Eat less or no food that is processed. Only natural organic food.

5. Eat a healthy breakfast.

6. Learn how to cook with the food you have bought.
