you stole

          “hey, can you spare a minute? i’m doing a SURVEY on which deadly sin’s the most common among beaumont students and faculty.”  clipboard clenched in hand, pen poised over paper: it’s evident that he’s DEAD SERIOUS. and this isn’t even for class.  “my friend thinks it’s envy, but i believe it’s greed.”

          he takes a quick glimpse at his clipboard. twenty-seven tallies, and it’s starting to look like he’s right. but twenty-seven isn’t enough; he needs an OVERWHELMING majority before he can rub it in his friend’s face.  “so what about you? which of the seven deadly sins do you represent most——and WHY?”

Typically she’d answer the question with a resounding no. I’ve got to study, I’e got research to do, and anything that may have been school related. She’d been in one of those moods again, feeling lesser than her siblings after going on facebook and though her mind was on the library, she still found herself stopping at the question.

“don’t tell me you missed that? did you see that?” theo pointed at the other as he checked once more. “dude just ran through campus ground butt naked.” the jock sighed in disappointment. “they stole my idea.”

“i’m telling you, i just don’t understand why you’d wanna watch a hollywood porn disguised as a horror movie when you could just as well take a trip down into the dark web and land yourself a pretty decent snuff.” jaehwa reasons, leaning back from his desk to cast an upside-down glance at the person sitting on his bed. “now, who did you want me to look into again?“

“i don’t know how i’m going to make it through my lectures today since i left my flask at home,” he spoke to the person nearest to him. “you don’t happen to have anything on you do you?” he joked, chuckling shortly after. he was still knew to this ‘teaching’ thing having only graduated two years ago. “or maybe today would be a good day to cancel class…what do you think?”

“Uh that depends, you a cop?” She held out her arms at the side and attempted a silly face, though she was sure she looked stupid and instead shook her head rather than carry out her joke. “I’ve got some vanilla extract in my dorm room. Don’t ask why I don’t even bake, but unless you’re askin’ for an iced tea-- regular kind not long island, m’not gonna be of much help. Give your kids the day off m’thinkin’.”

“Oh man.. don’t get me started on my terrible past of music taste because I though the artist was a smokeshow.” dylan groaned as she took a sip of her own drink, her grin pulling back on her lips as she flicked her eyes back up to the girl. she knew how to flirt, maybe it wasn’t the best version of pursing girls but in some instances it worked. the girl’s accent was intriguing, it drew her in even more if it was even possible. “fuck, that’s the best part. i feel terrible for them.. but shit.. makes for good entertainment.” she smirked and placed her glass back down on the counter. the idea of their fake blooming relationship’s origins made her giggle, she imagined it in her head and couldn’t help but wrinkle her nose at the thought. “damn, i’m surprised there hasn’t been a romantic comedy made out of this masterpiece. what do you think? how does it all end?”

“Look m’not afraid to admit it-- I used t’love Jessica Simpson. Please don’t judge me. She was so pretty. I even pretended t’like that gross version of These Boots Are Made For Walkin’? M’ cringin’ at myself just thinkin’ about it. What about you? Who’s your worst offender?” She could feel her face heating up the more they spoke and she couldn’t be clear if it was the alcohol or the girl’s gaze that was doing the trick. Piper wasn’t shy by any means but she was damn sure her cheeks were tinged pink. At her question she took a long sip of her drink, holding her finger in the air as she pretended to mull it over, then with a heavy sigh, she let her shoulders heave. “Well with some, great big declaration of course. Have you seen Imagine Me & You?”

“Well, maybe it’s big enough to classify in that category. Hypothetically I’m not really sure what classify’s as big in that world. Can’t say I’ve ever really thought about things like that. What would you think is big enough?”

“Well the size of your arm there might do it. I wouldn’t wanna be slapped in the face with something that size. Actually--- I wouldn’t want to be slapped in the face with any dildo, hypothetically or not but I digress. What did you do with it?”

“Welp…my clothes are still on..but I am next to a beautiful girl at least…so a moderately good night,”Micah told the girl as he quickly sat up, sending a smile her way. “Did…we meet last night?”he questioned, his memory fuzzy.

“There’s a beautiful girl here?” Eyes wide in mock surprise, she turned as if to look for said person before turning back towards him with a grin on her face. “No-- I’m a little jealous actually, I spent last night writing an essay on Hellenistic culture, not as much fun as you probably had. We met five seconds ago. Give or take a few.”

Elise sighed slightly, though a smile began to pull on her lips. “No worries…I think I saved a draft on my usb,”she admitted as she looked at the other. “I think we could both use a break…wanna go grab coffee? I’m Elise, by the way.”

“Here’s hopin’ anyway.” At the very least she offered a sympathetic look, though she was on her feet in no time, shoving binders and notebooks in her already full bag. “Piper. An’ if we get coffee we gotta go to the little cart in front of the Humanities building cause I got thrown out of the shop the other day and they do not wanna see me back so soon.”

“Old people versus commercialism which is basically the root of all war to begin with. You could always turn into one of those crafty ladies who shop at antique stores and decorate their pencil tree with decorations for every holiday. Might want to stock up on mason jars first though, it’s the price of admission into that club. Weather doesn’t impact the spirit, okay? Hell, embrace it. I just wanted another movie with Peyton Sawyer in it about a bayou Christmas. Apparently, down there, Santa doesn’t have a sleigh and reindeer, he has a boat and alligators. Better question, how jealous and petty is Julia that Claudia pulls more acting gigs these days?”

“Never too on the nose. Do you ever wonder if maybe, just maybe, Swayze’s ghost is out there humming along at any given second? Or is he more of a Hungry Eyes fan?”

“Honestly, don’t tell my nan I said this but we should take after the Eskimos an’ just send old people off after they reach a certain age, y’know? They’re miserable most of the damn time anyway. Hard pass-- I don’t get the whole antiquin’ thing, I’ve got so many homemade decorations, I can’t let those go. Oh god, please don’t tell me she had one of them-- Cajun accents. What d’you think the casting calls are like for those movies? Cause m’thinkin’ musta been in a late 90s early 00s dramedy’s gotta be on it.”

“mmm yeah, i only watched it because of the other lead actress, she was pretty hot.” dylan shrugged and laughed a bit as she took another sip of her beer, her eyes focused on her new date, kicking herself a bit that it wasn’t real. she quirked her eyebrow up a bit at her words and chuckled. “yeah… i mean, never listened to it, probably should if there’s funny stories such as yours” she winked and leaned up against the bar, wincing a bit at the story she had to tell about the dating app. she didn’t use it much either, once or twice when she needed a guaranteed lay but for now she was content with moments like this. “hit me with a car? fucks sake.. i’m down. screams falling in love.”

“I get that, I’ve watched some trash for so many hot people s’kinda sad. An’ listened t’some terrible music.” Despite the wrinkle of her nose there was a smile on her face as she leaned forward to take a sip of her drink, pressing her lips together to suppress the smile at Dylan’s wink. “The only funny part’s when they do a segment on cheatin’ partners, s’like that tv show but y’know-- hysterical.” Though she’d come to the bar to be alone, she couldn’t say she minded the company. “Right,” a little bit louder and more enthusiastic than necessary she slapped her hand against the counter and leaned foward. “I mean the fact that they haven’t made some sort of ensemble cast movie for it s’a damn surprise. “I’d call it-- Lovestruck.”

piper: damn i was gonna invite u over

A sudden burst of water began hitting the brunette, jolting him awake. “What the hell?”he yelled as the water quickly ceased, leaving him slightly wet and very hungover. “Where the hell am I?”he groaned as he looked up at the other.

“Heaven.” Head tilted back and eyes closed, she made an attempt to actually enjoy the sunlight only to be met by the sprinklers causing her to wrinkle her nose at the smell. “Or y’know, the main quad.” She wiped the droplets from her face and turned towards him. “Fun night?”

“Do you think you can fix it?”Elise asked the other as she watched them work on her laptop. She had been working on a paper when it suddenly crashed. Now, only a blue screen would pop up when she turned it on. Luckily, someone in the library had volunteered to help.

“Not at all--” Piper’s best response was a wide eyed and apologetic look, a sheepish smile accompanying it. “Sorry, I don’t actually know anything about computers but my study group partner is a huge pain in my ass so I just-- y’know pretended to. M’sorry.”
