Witchy Feels

As I like to call it, “Warding with a Bark, with a Bite.” This powder not only wards, but ensures any interloper who dare encroach upon your territory is met with fearsome resistance.

What You’ll Need

Basil (Protection, Warding)

Black Salt; Sea Salt works as a substitute (Protection, Warding)

Black Pepper (Banishing, Protection, Warding)

Cayenne (Anxiety, Pain, Protection)

Slippery Elm (Protection)

Angelica Root (Banishing, Protection, Warding)

Container

Decorations for the container- Thorns, Wax, etc.

Moon Phase doesn’t matter, unless you wish to bolster certain effects of the powder.

What To Do

Mix together your ingredients. You’ll find this may be hard with slippery elm, so I suggest you lay down the slippery elm first, and use the rest of the ingredients to lay ontop of it– Like a bed. Close the container, and shake your ingredients. Feel that fearsome vigor building in your chest, and channel it into the powder. Think about what/who you want to let in, and what/who must absolutely be kept out.

Once you are done with this, adorn your bottle. This is where you get to be creative, so I don’t have many further tips. Stones are good for enhancing the energies of the powder, while thorns or sharp things can give it some extra punch… Please be aware you’re gonna be carrying this bottle around your house, though. Don’t make it impossible to carry.

Hi everyone! Here are some very EASY ways to celebrate midsummer!

Open up the curtains and let some good sunlight cleanse your room.

Open up the window.

Clean cobwebs from the ceiling and other places.

Go on a picnic!

Eat some berries.

Pick flowers.

Light a candle that reminds you of summer or of the sun.

Wear a floral print.

Make a honey and sugar face scrub.

Make a flower crown.

Garden, or water your plants.

Today’s witch cocktail for the solstice is another original. It can only be done if you’ve made the rose floral vodka I shared last week. https://barberwitch.tumblr.com/post/161749102126/so-in-honor-of-midsummer-and-the-summer-solstice The Rose of Verona 2 oz Rose Vodka 1 oz simple syrup* Grapefruit (or lemon) sparkling water Garnish can be cucumber and rose (I added mint because I can) or, a lemon twist Mix simple syrup and rose vodka in a glass with ice, stir, don’t shake. Strain into martini glass and top with grapefruit sparkling water. Garnish and serve.

*If you don’t have simple syrup, take about 2 oz water and add in 4 barspoons or 4 teaspoons of powdered sugar and stir until dissolved.

It’s a simple but elegant cocktail, super refreshing and will taste almost like a floral iced tea with some bubbles. No burn or bite of alcohol.

I mentioned the herbal correspondences of the vodka, but adding citrus is the final step. Like in Yule, oranges, lemon, and grapefruit represent the sun. And as the longest day of the year, a little extra sun is needed for the cocktail.

Hey all, I’ve got an actual cocktail recipe for you today centered around the summer solstice/Litha on June 21st!

This is an original recipe. Sun Seeker Cocktail 2 oz bourbon 1 tbslp honey 3 oz ginger beer (refrigerated) Cinnamon stick Grater or microplane Sprig of rosemary

In a mixing glass pour bourbon and add honey. Stir until honey is dissolved and fully incorporated. Add ice and shake to chill. In a copper mug or lowball glass, pour ginger beer and strain bourbon honey mix into glass. Grate cinnamon over the top. Press rosemary to release oils, and rub around rim of glass (counter clockwise to reverse negativity) and place sprig in glass for garnish. Sip and feel the refreshing warmth deep through you and enjoy!

Whiskey for fire, rosemary for the sun, cinnamon for the warmth of summer, ginger for its healing and deep roots.

waning gibbous moon/disseminating moon:  receiving, expressing gratitude. soft energy.

last quarter moon: returning, giving thanks. hard energy.

waning crescent moon/balsamic moon: reflecting, resting, restoring. soft energy.

new moon: the moon is literally new. a rebirth. use this moon for intentions to do with fresh beginnings, starting again, cleansing. 

waxing moons: the moon is increasing its size, it is opening; use these moons for intentions about gaining, growing or expanding.

full moon: the moon is at full charge, and can be the most powerful phase in the moon cycle. use this moon for intentions to do with power, clarity, or psychic ability.

waning moons: the moon is decreasing its size, it is closing; use these moons for intentions about ridding yourself of something (or someone).

application to the craft:

focus is the most important aspect of bringing an intent to manifest itself. focusing your energy can be made simpler by working with a compatible energy in the world as you focus that intent. 

if the world around you is releasing an energy complementary to yours, it can be easier for that energy to find its way into reality; as opposed to facing any natural adversity.

cast soft energy intents in soft phases of the moon. (tranquility, creativity)

cast hard energy intents in hard phases of the moon. (strength, control)

this, in my opinion, is the concept of “the power of thought.” when more than one person thinks a thought, that thought holds more weight. this could explain why people practicing or praying together can often yield stronger, or more immediate results. it is a similar reasoning as incorporating tools and ritual into magick, as well.
