Kang Kyung Yoon, the reporter who has brought to light all the disgusting shit that’s happened over the past few days, has given an enlightening interview on why she began digging into Seungri and Jung Joon Young. Soompi has translated the interview, but the link to the original interview video is also there. I highly encourage anyone who’s been following this to read through the interview.
Some key statements she made that stood out to me:
“I found it the most shocking that these men weren’t filming spontaneously or with the other party’s consent, but they were doing it as part of a game,” continued Kang Kyung Yoon. “For example, if they saw a rookie female celebrity on television or from each other’s agencies, they would say things like, ‘She is very pretty, you should bring her out to drink with us.‘”
The reporter added, “On top of that, I believe that the incident of male celebrities secretly filming women is a huge problem that has resulted from the fact that many women are treated as sexual tools and some people’s distorted perception of sex that came from the sexualization of women, as well as corrupted use of power in the entertainment industry.”
According to Kang Kyung Yoon, the victims are contemplating whether to take legal action or to stay silent and protect their identities. The reporter added, “While they are extremely enraged and wanting to take strong legal action, they also worried that they would have to live with a scarlet letter labelling them as victims of hidden camera videos.
That final one stands out the most to me, especially as she says later on that she’s been getting emails from angry stans of Seungri, upset that she’s going after him. I think she has the perfect response, however, saying, “The victims are still here, and so is their pain from this incident. I hope that [fans] also consider that part of the situation too.”
The girls who were the innocent victims in all of this shit show can’t even come forward with courage because they’ll forever be remembered as the girls who were taken advantage of OR the girls who brought the ruin of stans’ precious oppa.
Anyone who can still support Seungri or JJY or anyone else who’s been proven to be involved with this needs to take a serious step back and reconsider their priorities. Their morals, I should say, actually.
This investigation is far from over, still. Here’s to seeing more of the shit stains in the world like Seungri and JJY put behind bars and justice being served.
