The Sasquatch, better known as Bigfoot, is a legendary creature described as a large, hair-covered humanoid that supposedly walks on two legs. The term derives from *sasq'ets*, a word from the Halkomelem language spoken by Native American and Canadian Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest region. The literal translation is something like "hairy man" or "wild man."
