i gotta know, how do you decide on the lineup for each of your teams in your DCU, is there some sort of method?

Certainly :) First off, there’s colour. Each member should have their own unique colour scheme in some way shape or form to allow them to stand out. (Obviously, you can’t always get around this, for example: Green Lantern and Green Arrow, but I do my best.)

Then there’s personality. Each team member needs their own little quirks to set them apart further. For my first gen of Teen Titans, each member was like a high school archetype. Robin’s the bad boy, Starfire’s the “weird” kid, Raven’s the goth, Beast Boy’s the class clown, Wally’s the flirt, Cyborg’s the star athlete, and Donna is the perfect cheer captain. They each have unique personality traits that rub off of one another well.

Finally, story. Sometimes, the overarching story I want to tell dictates whether or not a certain character can physically be on a team or not. For example, I wanted to have Martian Manhunter be a part of the Justice League from the start (like in the og comic) but his story is tied to M’gann’s, and she can’t be on Earth until a specific time, so Martian Manhunter just isn’t on Earth yet, unfortunately. He’ll come in later, though.

The entire fetch quest was a nice way to show more geographical world-building to the city, and to show more about what people in the city are like.

I am really curious about what your take on Asami will be like. I can clearly see a tone difference just from the clothes she was wearing. That Red Kimono really brings "classic Fire Nation" to mind. For a moment, she kind of reminded me of Mai.

I wonder what kind of personality she is going to have. For some reason, I am getting a "Toph" impression from her. (Rich girl that knows how to act in high society, but secretly hates all that pompous life)

You’re on the right track with Asami :) Tho I will point out that she’s not wearing a kimono, she’s wearing a hanfu, specifically one inspired by the Ming and Wei&Jin dynasties.

Okay, the time has come! You know how I made a teaser a while back and then never followed up? I was busy humming and hawing about which characters to include, but I gotta be honest, I’m still on the fence. So here we go, from left to right, we currently have:

Yes, this is inspired by the upcoming TT run. Yes, Fairplay’s design is basically untouched, but it’s not for the lack of trying. It’s peak, what can I say? I literally couldn’t add paint to that masterpiece no matter how hard I tried. Anyway…

Now, I’m still on the fence about the twins, because although their ages are right for this story, I don’t know if their personalities fit well on the team. Plus, I was hoping for more interesting powers in the lineup, instead of just two of the same powers, you know?

i have a question about cassie sandsmark, and what is her dynamic with the rest of her team (gen 2 Titans) as well as Donna and Diana

Okay, SO, I haven’t fleshed out every last little thing, but here’s what I got:

With Tim, Cassie is like a tomboy sister. Tim is awesome, he’s strong, he’s capable, he’s smart, he’s Robin, but he still comes from a very rich and privileged background, which contrasts sharply with Cassie’s more… earthy upbringing, lol. She’s stayed in third world countries before with her mom when they traveled, so she’s much more street-smart and practical than he is at times. But she respects him as a leader, and is always looking out for him when he needs it. They love exchanging random bits of knowledge about any number of niche topics.

With Steph, Cassie actually becomes something of a responsible person, because Steph is a purebred wild child, and if there’s no one else to rein her in, chaos unfolds. Sometimes they create chaos together, but other times, the wise words of Wonder Woman come back to her. “Don’t subtract from the population, don’t add to the population, and don’t wind up in the news paper, hospital, or jail.” But they get along well, with Cassie usually being the more chill one of the two, and Steph being the more hyper one.

With Kaldur, Cassie can’t help but feel a sense of seriousness come over her. Kaldur is very reverent and calm, and it can be infectious at times, especially since Wonder Woman and Aquaman are kinda cut from a similar cloth. They understand each other’s mentors, essentially. They feel like they can get emotionally vulnerable around one another. They both appreciate each other’s company.

With Conner, Cassie wants to chuck him out a window. His flamboyant “bad boy” energy has rubbed her the wrong way since the moment they met. Okay, well, maybe not the exact moment. She did think he was kinda cute at first, but once she got to know him (and after Conner showed immediate interest in M’gann) any feelings she may have had shrivelled up on the spot. To her, Conner is that one really annoying guy in class who won’t shut up, and thinks he’s just soooooooo funny. She enjoys dunking on him any chance she can get.

With Bart, Cassie is like an older sister. A cool older sister. One who makes sure he’s not doing anything that’ll kill himself. At times, she can be annoyed with him, because he and Conner get up to a lot of stupid stuff together, and anything to do with Conner is immediate suspect, not to mention the hyperactivity, but she’s got his back no matter what.

With M’gann, the feelings go on a little roller coaster ride. At first, Cassie doesn’t like her, because something about her seems too perfect and too cutesy and too polished. (*cough cough* she’s jealous *cough cough*) But over time, and after M’gann’s secret about being a white Martian comes out (the truth being far too sad for Cassie to feel like a good person for getting it out of her) they slowly become friends, because now Cassie feels like she knows the real M’gann, and the real M’gann is someone who is hurting and homesick and still just figuring out who she wants to be. They become emotional supports for one another.

With Diana, Cassie was an unexpected event, but a welcome one. She’s the first Wonder Girl to come after Donna, and Diana hadn’t ever really planned on taking in another apprentice, but Cassie surprised her. And frustrated her, just a smidge. With Donna, Diana was more of a mother figure. With Cassie, it was harder, because she was just supposed to be a mentor figure, since Cassie’s mom is very much alive. So there’s a distance there that Diana intentionally tries to keep, in order to make sure she doesn’t overstep. To Cassie, Diana seems like this epic hero figure who’s passing on her sage wisdom, and training her to be a mighty warrior. She just has a hard time listening to that wisdom sometimes, lol.

Donna enjoys feeling like an older sister. She likes messing with Cassie on occasion, she likes feeling like a mentor herself, and she very much enjoys pulling rank on her. They very much feel like a big sister and a little sister, lol. They would die for each other.

Someone in my YT comments made this joke and I think it’s hilarious! 😂

By just the design alone I'm really curious and can't help but to craft a story of my own but I wanted to hear yours the most.

Well, keep in mind that this is just the beginnings of the idea for my story, and it may change in time. But this is what I have so far right now:

Zod and his wife had separated. He had long been thought of as odd, wrathful, and formidable by those who knew him as a general on Krypton, and the older he got (and the worse the decay of Rao and Krypton became) the more mad he seemed to become. Their love had grown cold, Zod rarely went to see them, he was always working, and so Lor-Zod was raised almost exclusively by his mother.

When the chaos of Krypton’s end truly unfolded, Lor and his mother were among many Kryptonians who attempted to flee the planet. Amidst the bolts of blaster cannons that raged across the sky and through the atmosphere, their shuttle tried to escape and enter FTL. Right as their ship activated its FTL-drive, they were hit, and the resulting malfunction caused a rare phenomenon. The Oans had discovered it millennia ago; a slipstream of space-time that exists in-between dimensions. The Phantom Zone. There, no one ages, and all sense of reality becomes broken. Lor’s ship had managed to fall into a crack caused by the malfunctioning FTL-drive.

Lor and his mother managed to survive there—for how long, they had no idea—until at last a ripple in the blanket of reality allowed Lor to slip out of the Phantom Zone. Alone. He was stranded on a strange world, among strange people, and had changed much during his time in the Phantom Zone. His mind was not that of an ordinary child, but it was not that of an ordinary adult either. He could see things others couldn’t. The bends and cracks in reality, the way light and energy flowed through the universe, the secret code that constructed the very essence of solid matter as we know it.

The people of the world he was on tentatively cared for him for a little while, regarding him as unusual (and more than a little creepy), until the day when Brainiac came. That night, Lor awoke to see the village set aflame and people shrieking and running. Strange cyborgs were descending from a ship, taking children and raw resources whenever they found them, including Lor. The cyborgs said they had come to rescue him and the other children. That they were benevolent.

Lor was brought to their spaceship where he discovered an army of machines and children, but he was not placed with the others. He was brought before Brainiac himself. Lor was Kryptonian, and in Brainiac’s eyes he was like a precious jewel, statistically near-impossible to find by chance.

The indoctrination began. Lor was told that Krypton was dead, destroyed by mad men. Those who remained fled to a secret place called New Krypton, but they were pursued. A man called Superman was there the day that New Krypton fell, and all remaining Kryptonians were killed… except for Superman. He fled back to a planet called Earth, alive and well, leaving Dru-Zod—Lor’s father—for dead. Superman was a war criminal, an enemy of Krypton, a mad tyrant, one who must be stopped by any means necessary. Brainiac had crawled his way from the wreckage of Zod’s mangled ship, and kept within his programming the living memory of Zod, and his final wish was to destroy Superman and avenge his people! As well as Lor’s mother. Would he fight for her sake? Would he fight to find a way to free her from the Phantom Zone? Make her proud?

Lor believed everything Brainiac told him, still having something like a mind of a child, and would lead the other children in their growing army, going from planet to planet, “acquiring” resources, “rescuing” more children, and preparing for their assault on Earth. They would destroy it entirely, leaving only a few scraps behind to remember it by.
