"you think you know supernatural better than jensen ackles?" I think I know supernatural better than god
The idea of βbut everyone knows thatβ needs to stop.
I saw a post about someone chiding Millennials for not knowing about JKRowlings transphobia, and asking how it is at all possible that people can exist in the world and the internet and, you know, not know.
Which I mean, I get. It is so present in so many of my online spaces that it seems astounding that someone could simply be ignorant! It feels impossible!
But let me tell you a story:
I went on a girls trip with a bunch of friends. All of us are rather incredibly liberal and all of us are incredibly online.
One girl would not stop talking about Harry Potter.
At one point, another girl asked her why she was ok with supporting it, and she had no real clue that JK Rowling was at all transphobic. She had heard that she likes to support Lesbian causes and thought βoh ok cool!β And that was it. She was AGOG with the news and rather horrified.
I must once again emphasize that she was an incredibly online person. Sheβs a foodie and a restaurant blogger.
Later in the trip we were picking restaurants and I suggested one I found on Google, and she gasped at me. Actually gasped, asking how I could ever be okay picking that one.
The shock mustβve been on my face, because she then told me all of the shitty things that restaurateur does. He abuses staff. Underpays them. Fires them on a whim. Is known for being one of the worst people to his employees in the entire restaurant business on this coast.
And she was so shocked I had never heard of this. Because in her mind, I was just as online as her. And in her online world, EVERYONE knew about this guy.
So I think the moral of this story is: always approach the other person with some empathy. Even online people, even people you think MUST know about how bad people are, may not have heard. It may truly be just them being on a different sphere of the internet than you.
So be gentle, be kind when letting people know they might not have heard about the cancellation of XYZ person. Donβt assume that everyone knows all the same info as you.
By all means, let them know so they can make informed decisions, but being kind will go a lot further than attacking them for some info they might not know yet.

happy june to everyone, especially my fellow aroaces
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
My grandma just called and, among other things, saidΒ βYou have hips. Thatβs good! Men like hips!β and then she interrupted herself to sayΒ βWomen like hips. People of your preferred gender like hips. I can never rememberβΒ And I was likeΒ βThanks grandma! My preferred gender is none of them, no thanks.β and she was likeΒ βOkay, no one will comment on your hips!β very self satisfied, likeΒ βaha, I have figured it outβ I think like half her grandkids are some variety of not-straight and she canβt always remember which is which but she is the epitome of like βsheβs a little confused, but sheβs got the spirit!β
Update: I gave it some thought and my estimate was wrong. Of the grandkids that are out, itβs 1/3, not Β½
I told my grandma that Iβd told my friends about what she said and that some of yβall had said you wished she was your grandma, and she saidΒ βWell, you can never have too many grandkids!βΒ So likeβ¦consider her your honorary grandma* I guess? *if you want an honorary grandma, that is
Update on my grandma: I told her my hair was standing up, but instead of straight line it was diagonal and she saidΒ βThatβs okay, youβve never been straight!β and then laughed so hard at her own joke I thought she was going to drop the phone
Happy almost pride month! Have my confused-but-supportive grandma!
An update: my grandma just called me to ask if I knew it was pride month
Happy pride month!!
happy pride to my favorite gif in the world
Funny when someone introduces you to something, you get really into it, and then they lose all interest in it. Oh so youβre just going to abandon me at the party you invited me to. Dude you were my ride.

when i was a tiny baby queer (aka a 24-year-old), i went to my first pride festival probably three months after i kicked ex-gay therapy to the curb and came out to my parents. being the people they are, my parents came with me. they werenβt really sure about this whole gay thing, but they loved me and wanted me to be safe and happy and wanted to be involved in what was important to me, so they came along. (i also think my mother still might have thought i might get drugged or murdered or beaten by a protester of which there were plenty.)
anyway i wanted a memento of my first pride, you know, and this one vendor was selling keyrings, and i liked it, so i bought one. do you remember those italian charm bracelets that were all the rage like 10-15 years ago? it was a keychain like that, and it had a rainbow rooster, a rainbow cat, and then just a rainbow, and so I bought it.
i run into my mom a couple of vendors over and she goes oh you bought something? whatβd you get? so i showed her, and i was like,Β βIβm not sure why itβs a rooster and a cat. Seems kind of random. But I liked the rainbows.β
and my mom, who was some form of ministerβs wife for most of my childhood and teenagerhood, stares at me like she thinks iβm joking.
βWhat?β i say.
ββ¦itβs a cock and a pussy, Jules,β she says flatly, and that is the story of how i died at the age of 24 while attending my first pride festival.
I love how every June this one gets dug up and passed around again, lmao.
oh no is this what weβre doing now
β¦relicβ¦
*crumbles and blows away on the wind*
When ur mutuals w/ some cool ass people rb if u agree
tbh think if ur gonna give the like button a trans flag animation you should like stop banning trans women en masse, among other things. like as a requirement.
On it, chief.

we need to instill a new storytelling rule of thumb into people called "show don't tweet" where we encourage them to put all pertinent canon information into the actual story and its official supplemental material instead of using reddit AMAs as lore dlcs
no clue what gave them the idea.
