“So, is the hair natural or do you bleach it?” 

“It’s natural.” Sort of; he was pretty sure it was part of his mutation. It had been closer to Wanda’s color, once upon a time.

“Good.” he nods, satisfied.

A smile twitches over his features. Grew up separated from all of this. “I can’t even imagine it. But if you’re going to start somewhere, Professor X and Magneto would be the place. So you grew up thinking you were the only ones?”. He shakes his head, “Having powers was terrifying enough, at least I always knew what I was.”

Pietro nodded, remembering what it had been like when their mutations had developed. They’d thought they were monsters. (Pietro still wasn’t sure he wasn’t, not with Magneto hanging over his head.)”Yeah. We didn’t know what was happening. Didn’t know how to control it.”

Q could stay on pace, even with the wisecracks. Felicia did appreciate it.“You gonna jump in?” She asked between one breath and the next, untangling herself from a HYDRA man’s grip. “They’re getting antsy.”

“Anything for you, Cat,” Pietro quipped, joining Felicia in the heart of the fight. He threw punches too quick to be dodged, used the training Natasha had put him through to to focus his attacks. 

“I didn’t threaten anything. Just made an observation how- devastating it would be without a brother to protect her and all.” Eyes flicker over to the balled hands, another tell of dear lil Pietro’s control slipping. Not that he minds, it just makes it easier to get what he wants from the kid. “you sure it’s worth it kid? I’m not even with hydra anymore. I don’t know if you heard the news I’m going clean!” A deep chuckle vibrates through his chest, it was a good joke he had to high five himself for it. “But seriously kid, hydra is old news. Your cute little revenge thing wouldn’t even mean much.” Frowning a little he gestures to the cup. “What? Oh come on like I’m going to drug you in public. What am I going to do? drag your body away in broad daylight? Come on I’m smarter than that.”

“She could kill you with a thought,” Pietro spat, and though he knew it was true, he also knew that Wanda wouldn’t do it. She was better than him. “I don’t care who you’re with. You’re a shit person. The world would be better without you in it.” He believed that, even if he knew he shouldn’t. Being a hero was harder than just deciding to be good, and Pietro wasn’t sure he’d ever get there entirely. “I don’t think you’re smarter than anything.”
