Hey, this is the same girl from the '14/8 years playing/ 3-5 mil audience' thing, and I'm still playing an electric. Its actually really good, and I'm incredibly fond of it. Is a regular piano worth it? Like, I know the sound is better, but the options with electrics are so much better. Tips?

Hi! I own both an upright and an electric. I love my electric for when I’m trying to record music and I find its features super helpful when teaching piano to young kids. However, it’s totally true that there’s a different feel to a real piano, especially when playing a higher level piece. The piano can capture certain nuances that an electric piano can’t. Can anyone help me put this into words a little better? :P

Hi I've been playing piano since I was two years old. I'm 16 now. I only know about four big pieces and I can play by ear. I don't know how to read music and I've never had a lesson but many experts have told me I have the skill of one who's very advanced. I learn from YouTube (THANK GOD FOR YOUTUBE) and I'm trying to learn many more songs. I learn very quickly so I want to learn at least 100 before the end of this year. I think I can do it! How long have you been playing?

Well I'd encourage you to learn how to read music because it's a great skill to have, and you can learn a lot more! I have been playing for 14 years.

When did you begin taking lessons and how old we're you when you when you realized you enjoyed the piano?

I started taking lessons when I was 5, but didn't really start to enjoy it until I was 12, when I realized that I was actually pretty good :P

Absolutely love your blog! Don't know if you'd be able to help, if you can it'd be so helpful! I'm currently teaching a friend how to play piano, she does not know how to read music though, so how can I teach her how to read music? Is there any techniques to teach someone?

Well that all depends on how she learns best :) You could always try teaching her those poems.. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge/All Cows Eat Grass/ Good Boys Deserve Fudge Always/ spaces spell FACE. But when I teach piano, I always teach them G Clef and F clef rather than Treble and Bass. That way, they know that the G clef circles around the G line, and the F clef has the big dot on the F line. Then, Middle C is the note with the ledger line. That way, they can just figure out the rest of the notes if they know how the staff works and that every space/line is a half step. But really, the only way to learn how to read music is practice, practice, practice! It's just like learning a new language!
