the weekend of infinite chores and errands
we truly did so much this weekend. a quick recap:
saturday
7:45 AM: drop off car for oil change
straight to dog beach
play play play, pure sun
down to pop up for dozen bagel pick up
home for breakfast and finding dog shampoo
outside dog bath!
back to pick up the car with a surprise tire purchase and alignment
to book catapault because they posted that it was ARC free book day, and I got the ones I wanted!! then bought two books to stimulate the economy and support a small business
picked up 3 books at the library AND 3 coupons because I completed the january book challenge. i love the library
home to take a minute to breathe. lunch of leftover chana masala, kung pao chicken, rothli, rice
3 hour nap for the entire household, waking up wicked dehydrated
dinner of salad and the final bit of tortilla from trader joes
i tried out a high hydration sourdough recipe and played with dough for a few hours
finally, to bed
sunday
morning cuddles/fighting otto for bed space as he slowly wormed his way to above my head, and tried endlessly to use my pillow as his own
quick greek yogurt and walk
off to amie's! but first, picked up breakfast sandwiches at wise ox
then the moving bonanza. what a joy to have helped them move in and then out of their place in south park to their new place in south park
of course, it's about 85 in san diego this weekend which is deeply troubling, among the many other troubling things.
did two runs, lots of packing, and lots of maneuvering on the new street. her new home is GORGEOUS, and I'm so happy they found a good spot to land
home to make high hydration bread which is in fact flat like a pancake but also tastes pretty good, so can't complain too much.
did some classwork for TK class because i'm a student again!!! it's fun and makes my brain work in new ways
finally, all tasks are finished and i'm writing this up while having just finished the new phillip pullman - la belle sauvage. it broke my heart, and is officially maybe my favorite series over harry potter now
i will enjoy the rest of this evening and hopefully cruise through the rest of february. we are strong! we have a great life that is abundant! we can do so much!!
(ALSO enjoying the fixed stove because we were without stove/oven for two weeks and subsisted on creativity and the balmuda oven)
love you, miss you, hope i can journal more in the new year because it does bring me joy byeee
ringing in the new year
hello welcome, i have so many goals and things to reintroduce to my life. the cycle of life just keeps turning. i've been so abundant in relationships - in friendships, coworkers, romantic relationships, family. i have been so abundant in homes and finally making the transition to living with a partner. i have been so abundant in health.
and the wheel keeps turning. and i know those things are not guaranteed and that in the next year / two years these things will transition away. and that's ok, i can be grateful for this phase of life.
BUT ANYWAY - this is not an end of year letter. this is a quick note to say that we rang in the new year in our beautiful new house with A COLD!!! the first illness of the year. i am on the couch, i read bury our bones at midnight in two full days. it has been me and otto and kevin trapped in this house as i try not to get anyone sick.
it has been boring annoying, lovely, frustrating, and i'm sure theres a lesson in there that i'm avoiding. but that's the beginning of 2026. me, on the big blue couch with kevin, celebrating with him for the first time since 2023.
day 1 was body chills, day 2 was a cough and sore throat and being BORED, and day 3 we went to get pop up bagels and i had the biggest headache so i slept until 3 PM. i am so ready to feel better

hello me from the future again, on the first/second day of fall to SAY:
i did in fact go to law beach today AND jump in the ocean so that certainly counts
i went to an antique shop in oceanside that blew my eyebrows off, just an amazing place. also got my two linen shirts from valley thrift and they are exactly as useful as i thought they'd be. now on the search for those pajama style shorts that don't look like pajamas ... may be a bust or too trendy
we're 1/4 through the school year. martha taught me that you basically just have to do it. there's no time but it doesn't matter. just do it in your spare seconds or it won't get done.
i read so much. i love the library
WE MADE SOURDOUGH STARTER PEOPLE. it took 3 tries and the third is so strong and i love it like a pet, and i just made cinnamon rolls with it. i will try to honor it and keep it forever
so as of the first day of fall, we did it! a fall to do, or fall break to do, or both, would be wonderful. i have so much more to say! i'll be back soon <3
hello from the future!! (fall 2025)
oh my gosh, life is different now, life is still the same
fall break, aggressively attacking my to-do list as this house becomes more and more livable every day (as if it wasn't already).
the summer battle of the blinds almost had some casualties but we've just about made it out alive. putting the temp paper blinds up really removed a lot of visual interest from the rooms and made it clear that i would actually have to figure out what to do with all these blank walls around the space
but i'm also enjoying moving slowly through a space and enjoying the process. so is my wallet. i have so much to talk to you about! the scams of furniture stores! the values of resale sites! trusting strangers! if you want a community you have to be community!
there's so much, so much good! so much heavy responsibility, some sacrifice and some bittersweet change. i hope to come back to this place of words to share more , to indulge in more of the words.
i've been reading SO MUCH but I really do miss creating in this way.
i am brave and strong and capable and i can say no as much as i want
