Coding | A beginnerās perspective
I thought it might be nice to keep a log of my own progress. So sorry, my dear readers. You donāt have to read this.
Iām taking the second class of the introduction to programming series at the University of Washington, Seattle and I just completed my last weekly assignment. Confession: I have no idea what Iām doing. I do have a vague-ish idea of why my codeĀ works, but I wouldnāt have been able to implement these without my trusty friend, StackOverFlow. At this point, my strategy is toĀ āshove everything at it and hope something sticksā (I actually said this to a TA; sorry Iāve failed you).
So seeing how others have been doing quite well, it feels super imposter syndrome-y. Or maybe Iām just really incompetent. Weāll see how my undergrad research volunteering stint goes next quarter since Iāll also be working with Java and Python (I was accepted for an undergraduate research position at a hospital where weāll be using machine learning to detect arthritis. Also, I know nothing about Python). Perhaps being thrust into the deep end will make me actually learn coding. Hereās to hoping I donāt end up as a deadweight to the team--I promise to try my best, even if that requires four bottles of cold brews a day to keep me awake (Donāt worry. Iāve done this before. I still slept soundly).
