For me it was a slow burn. However when I saw this scene. Everything changed. I often find Agents of SHIELD parallels with my other favorite Stargate Atlantis. And I often compare Phil and Melinda my favorite AOS couple to my my favorite couple of SGA John Sheppard/Elizabeth Weir aka Sparky. When Phil TRUSTED Melinda to look and to touch his scar above anyone else, thats when I fell hard and I feel fast because it reminded me of the things that made me absolutely adore Sparky (and many of my other couples), they are a couple that bring out the best in each other and understand each other better than everyone they interact with. And trust me….I don’t regret anything. 

This is the moment I knew. They’re both feeling vulnerable here, and we know enough about them at this stage that they wouldn’t show this side of themselves to just anyone. This moment is Coulson opening up, and May letting him know that she’s here for him, that he will be changed somewhat, BUT in all the ways that matter, he’s still the Coulson she knows. It’s so heartbreaking, and yet so beautiful and full of hope at the same time.
