My Rad PhD Quest!

Semester is going well so far.  I am super busy, though, and I haven't even seen the syllabus for my class that meets Monday afternoons.

The semester starts on Wednesday! I am teaching a class of 35 students.  Looked at my classroom today, and it has not changed since I was an undergrad. I have a chalkboard! A table! Some Chairs! A screen but no projector!! Can't wait!!

The fall semester is nearly over.  I have one paper left, on which I must score a 10% to get an A in the class, and one group presentation left. Might as well start the semester break now!

After having procrastinated all week on this paper that is due tonight, I am using a series of 20/10s to get it done.  20 minutes of work followed by 10 minutes of goofing off.  I have found this process works very well when I am lacking motivation.

When posting in Blackboard, type your posts in Word and copy/paste if spelling/word usage is not your forte.  Seriously. Do it.

Some scary reading for Halloween season!

It's Friday! I can't wait for the weekend. I have been extremely busy, going to class, working 8-5, teaching, etc.  I can't wait to relax, watch football, and....wait...CRAP! I have 120 pages of my law text to read by Monday. 

. . . HUZZAH! I am very excited to learn from my students.  Also, the two classes I am taking seem very doable.  Fall semester is going to be so much more chill than spring and summer were.

Which means I start my 2nd year of doctoral work this semester.  School starts Monday!

For what it's worth, Googlescholar does the best job of providing correct APA citations.  Even if I find an article elsewhere, I look it up on Googlescholar to copy/paste the APA citation.  All you have to do afterwards is change the font (and possibly the indents).  I'm lazy like that.

21 hours of coursework is over in one year! I have 18 days until the Fall semester starts. Sigh... (of relief this time).

Is it that simple?

Taking a class that meets every day for only one hour is a piece of cake for one used to 3-hour classes. That is, until one realizes the reading load will require one to read several chapters/articles EVERY NIGHT. Looks like my next two weekends will be filled with reading to get ahead of schedule.

It is entitled "Gender and Aging."  Here's to facing fears head on!  (I wonder if any department offers a course on "Dying Alone and Penniless?")
