I've only got 19 days left at work, then I'm a free agent for the best part of the month, including a little break with my parents and our dogs down south (including going to a donkey sanctuary, iconic). Starting to think about what I want to get out of this first year of my PhD... I'm funded for four so I don't feel immense pressure to start producing versus consuming, but I know I really want to focus on my pedagogical skills and really get the hang of teaching. I've been assigned a first-year intro class so it's broad and vague, which is great because it's been a long time since I covered some of the content. Just hoping I get an enthusiastic bunch because there's nothing worse than a dead seminar

I don't think I carry anything particularly unusual in my bag (besides copious quantities of prescription drugs), but I have just got a new bag in anticipation of my phd!! it's from seventeen london and it's great!! got a big, padded laptop sleeve, a handy zip at the back so you can reach into the main body (which is useful as i'm tube fed so have to tote around a pump and attach myself accordingly), and LOTS of pockets for organisation. highly recommend!!

I start my PhD in October, and like... I feel like I want to start this tumblr again. I can't guarantee it'll be consistent but is the academia corner of tumblr still alive??
