Perchance it was the emotions his face delineated, or maybe it was the balanced lilt of his voice, but she felt as though her cautious observation of this man carried back spindles of information that conveyed benevolence in him, almost as if his thoughts were just diaphanous enough to radiate their approval of her. But, as she did not believe to carry the faux ability of extrasensory perception, that down-reaching moment of scrutiny came to her as nothing more profound than a simple stroke of acceptance, a minute recognition of his humble curiosities, which would ultimately prove to be as residual as the CMB itselfâunless she is proved wrong about him, that is.
It forthwith came to appear as though her silenced considerations were indelibly written in the air around her, their subsistence bordering on subliminal, for he took the liberty to point their nascent conversation in the direction she wished. While thankful for this thoughtful - or perhaps thoughtless - change, the knight felt inclined to weigh the unanswerable enigma of if this topic was borne their way out of coincidence or some actual act of mind reading.
At any rate, Forte noticed but was unconcerned by his nervous gestures, and she responded with a voracious promptness meant to pacify the uncertain vacillation of his eyes.
âSo we can dream walk. I was doubtful about it, admittedly. The idea was too strange to accept given all that has happened.'Â
Describing it as âhazyâ did not ultimately discredit his claim, as she was no scientist by nature and did not require empirical figures to ascertain something. Her vocation mandates a more acute level of trust, that trust independent of tabulated considerations, for she handles blatant violations of safety that sometimes require recount â and while the tenet of a dragon knight stops there, she expands its definition with her humanist attitude, which nullifies the uselessness in unclear stories or hazy memories.
âI am inclined to ask what itâs like, but I assume it is a battle one must experience for oneself.'
It was now Kyousuke's turn to feel like his mind was being read. While not exactly off-putting, silence when in another person's company made Kyousuke wish for something to distract him. It's not that she didn't deserve his complete attention--Kyousuke tried to give her as much as he could, in all honesty--but he still couldn't feel completely at ease with just one other person around. This young woman's quickly moving the conversation along made Kyousuke exhale a soft sigh of relief and give a silent thanks to her in the back of his head. Maybe that could get across to her as well, he hoped.
âIâll admit, I didnât believe it at first, butâŚthat would be a little hypocritical of meâŚâ Kyousukeâs voice nearly lowered to a mumble out of habit. Though people reacted with wide-eyed curiosity at his being a demon at best, and mere indifference at worst, Kyousuke always braced himself for any negative reaction to even hints of his supernatural nature.
But his concern definitely outweighed his fear of rejection this time. Raising his hand to chest level, he looked down at it, flexing and contracting his fingers a bit before his hand balled up into a tightly-clenched fist. His strength was here, and its loss was all too jarring when he first felt it. He figured heâd try and tell her about it, so she wouldnât be so caught off-guard when she experiences it herself.
âI can only say hazy because my senses were amplified to dizzying extent,â Kyousuke clarified, looking back at the young woman with slight concern. ââŚMyâŚpowers were gone, as well. I can only hope things donât go as badly for you on your first dream walk.â
