Big Wizard,Even Bigger World
A tall, portly, and pale wizard stands at a table a little bit too small for him in a room almost a little bit too small for him. His head light looks up and down at the paper in anticipation, as his walnut brown hair lightly brushes against the roof.
A small knock is heard at the door a shorter, slightly tanned man who looks like he fits in the house as a glove should fit a hand.
The small man, named Atlus Flowerfield, gives a kind look to his adopted son, Forest Flowerfield. After making his presence known, Atlus speaks in a Jovial yet soft voice and says, “So, how is the family’s favorite mage doing on his search?” Forest scoffs as he drinks a mug of tea, gone cold from a nights work, and says, “I’m only the favorite because I’m the only one and we both know this.“ he says with feigned annoyance.
Atlus responds with a smile and says, "Not the only one! Just the only one crazy enough to follow in your great grandfathers footsteps.” Forest shrugs in response, clearly tired. Atlus chuckles a bit as he hands him a small piece of paper and says with confidence, “Give this a read.” Forests eyes squint in the dim light of the room as he lightly grips the sides of his glasses. Suddenly, his eyes go from skepticism and tiredness to being joyful and invigorated.
He looks to his father, shocked he can barely stammer out a “How!?” as he looks Between the paper and his father. Atlus laughs as he says in a cocky tone of voice,“Your father may be half way through his halfling life, but he still hasn’t forgotten the good old days!” he says as he shakes a little pair
of lockpicks. Forest takes a deep breath and says, “I really owe you one dad, Really.”
As Forest says this, Atlus shrugs and says,“Finding the magical secrets of yer great grandfather is a family matter, you don’t owe me anything,” he pauses for a moment, “even if yer mother and the rest of the family don’t see eye to eye with us.” he says with a slight chuckle. Forest looks back at the document, it being a travel document marking down where people were headed through the local town way back in the day.
And there, on the paper clearly states the name “Orologio Flowerfield, Phandelver Mine outpost”. Forest looks up to Atlus as Atlus starts to say,“Told your mom your local school had given you the chance to go on a quote unquote ‘Field trip’,” as he uses his fingers to make air quotes, “your stuff is already packed, you should be ready to start your search the day after tomorrow.” Atlus says in a slightly hushed, yet excited, tone.
Forest looks back down at the paper with an excited glint in his eyes, “The Phandelver Mines, huh?”
he says with satisfaction, “I won’t let you hide my family’s secrets from me!”
