So, this is from phil is not on fire (the first) Pay attention to the pillow (sorry about the lion in the way) in the first shot. It’s laying on the bed. And look at Phil and Dan’s noses, how black the marker is. Then in the next shot, the pillow is standing up and both of their noses are heavily missing marker. Can you say “Phan”?

i never got so many asks over one of my tags about phan proof lmao.well maybe it’s because i’m usually phan neutral, but thanks for the opportunity to share another insight i just had about that “Uma Thurman just watched me have sex” tweet Dan made:Imagine you meet your friend for the first time. It’s absolutely platonic (even tho you shamelessly flirted with them before that meeting visible for the public.).Would you actually go in their bedroom at some point, masturbate and then tweet it and call it sex so that they Phil will certainly read it? No. No you wouldn’t. That would be as weird as letting your pal bring a one-night-stand to your room the first week you two actually see each other and let them have sex in your room.

(@7:35) Ok so this has probably been talked about to death but I’ve been thinking a lot about this section in Becoming Youtube and decided hey why not make the 50000th post about this exact topic?? The question is: How much of themselves should Youtubers be prepared to share online?

So, let’s take a look at some interesting tidbits.

Phil - “I just share what I want to share… I’m not fake in what I do… Somethings I think should be kept [to myself/private]" 

This is so interesting because it kind of summarizes Phil’s entire stance on phan? He doesn’t actively try to deny it like Dan does; he mostly just chooses to not to address it. And yeah, the phandom has noticed that already. But just the fact that Phil himself acknowledges that that’s how he deals with issues he believes should be kept private is interesting. 

Dan - "I have certain things I believe is none of the internet’s business at all to know about…”

I feel like if there was a way for Dan to say this about phan (past or present) without pretty much confirming that it is (or was) real, this is what he’d say. I think so much of his frustration with phan lies in that this is what he wants to say, but he can’t. 

Phil -“It is dangerous to share everything about yourself because it opens a door for people to…”

I wish Dan hadn’t interrupted Phil. Because I think he was going to say something more along the lines of people intruding into your personal life and decisions. Which when you think about it in the context of phan, is a very real concern they would have if they came out. I mean, they can’t even get a haircut or buy shirts without the phandom offering their input. I’m sure they can already sense that there would be a lot of their fans that would feel entitled enough to tell them how to run their relationship.

Dan - “*interrupts* get too emotionally invested in stuff that’s your personal business. Like relationships are always the worst. So many Youtube relationships where it’s just like… awkward afterwards”

Another good point that once again hits a little bit too close to home. If the phandom’s emotional investment in Phan was a financial one, we’d all be richer than Bill Gates. (lol at that cheesyass metaphor but u catch my drift) I can imagine it’s a little scary to think hundreds of thousands of people intensely cherish a relationship that you share with another person. If Dan and Phil ever split (my heart is dying as I consider this), who knows how people would react, what assumptions they would make and who they would blame. (But imo, Dan, it’s a little too late to be worried about this)

But really the juiciest part of all this is when Dan describes Youtube relationships which ended in break-ups as ‘awkward afterwards’. Assuming 2009-2011 Phan was a thing and they broke up, wouldn’t Dan and Phil’s relationship be part that group? But it’s never been 'awkward afterwards’ for Dan and Phil. If they broke up, wouldn’t Dan know from personal experience that that’s not always the case? So, is it not 'awkward’ because they never shared the relationship with fans or are they part of the exception? Or is it that they’ve never had that 'awkward’ stage because they’ve been a couple all this time? ^___^

so i was watching dan’s 2013 videos the other day, and something caught my eye in “How NOT to Stay Cool” - 19th July 2013 and you see this fan? (he’s holding it rn) and i noticed something he said. at 3:57 he says “yeah thats great at night when I’m trying to sleep next to it” (referring to the beeping noise the fan makes)

i then remembered something i saw in one of cat’s vlogs, “LONDON BOUND: Day 1” - 15th august 2013. and yep, at 5:53, right on the bed stand, it’s the same fan. and since i live in the south east of england as well, i can confirm that it was still as boiling hot in august 2013 as it was in july 2013. why would dan have gotten rid of his fan just so phil can be cooler? (unless they were sleeping in the same room YOU SEE WHAT I'M GETTING AT HERE)

moments earlier, at 5:50, we hear cat say “i don’t know if i should film in here..” and quietly in the background we just about hear phil say “yeah you can yeah” if you go watch the video, he almost seems unsure.

*this is the point I go creepy stalker mode*

i had a poke around the videos and, isn’t the fan on the opposite side of the bed to which phil sleeps on? we see this in all the day in the life videos, this scene is from “A Day in the Life of Dan and Phil in London!” at 0:11.

later in the same video, dan goes to wake dan up.

(this is at 0:35) first thing i notice, his water glass on his bedside table is basically full - it hasn’t been touched *side note* who actually wakes up in this position?

a few shots later, we get a clearer, wider shot view of his bed. look at how his bed sheets appear. the bottom sheet only has lines where his body is pressing down on the mattress, not the wrinkles you would get had he been in that bed all night. his pillow is also hardly touched at all, the only creases are where his head has just been rested down.

if he had been sleeping in that bed, surely his duvet would also be spread wider over the bed, the pillow would be flatter and the other pillow wouldn’t be quite so fluffed up.

unless he had been completely still on his back all night, it appears that he did not sleep in this bed.

ohh, he’s on the wrong side of the bed as well…

“How To Get Out of Bed” 28th January 2014 - 3:47 - right hand side, pillows and sheet messed up from moving around to film (pretty sure people move around in the night as well? well apparently not according to dan…)

so there we go! that analysis over… in conclusion, it seems as if they had been sharing a bed, going from dates and positioning of the fan, it just adds up..

*disclaimer* i am just suggesting that they sleep in the same bed. i am not claiming phan is real (as much as i wish it was)

ending thoughts

at the beginning of “A Day in the Life of Dan and Phil in London!” phil seems far too awake to have just woken up. he is talking loudly and clearly, eyes wide open and only squints and yawns when he says he has just woken up (i’m ngl that yawn is so fake, go watch 0:02) and then his glasses are conveniently placed on his lap… all prepared…

ohh and when he goes to wake dan up, we can hear dan’s voice very clearly through the door, he sounds awake enough… (compare to his waking up voice in ditl in manchester for reference) his eyes too are wide open and as i said earlier, who really wakes up and stays in this position until your friend comes and wakes you up?
