Why We Chose to Be a Fully HumanโMade, NoโAI Indie Studio
We decided early on that A Cup of Nanami would be fully humanโmade. No AI art, no AI animation, no AI scripts. Just real people creating something together because they enjoy it, not because theyโre being pushed or pressured. It wasnโt a dramatic statement. It was simply us choosing people over shortcuts.
Thereโs something special about art made by actual humans. The little quirks, the personality, the things that arenโt perfect but feel real. You canโt automate that, and honestly, we donโt want to.
We also learned why this matters. Someone joined our server pretending to be an artist, but everything they showed us was AIโgenerated. It wasnโt even about the art itself. It was the dishonesty and the way it ignored the effort our real artists put in. That moment made it clear how important it is to protect the space weโre building.
Everyone here creates because itโs fun for them. Not a chore. Not an obligation. Not another task on a long toโdo list. If someone needs a break, they take it. If life gets busy, thatโs normal. If someone wants to switch roles or just hang out for a while, thatโs fine too. Weโre not using people as tools. Weโre making something together at a pace that feels good.
We also donโt expect anyone to be online all the time. Youโre allowed to have a life outside the project. Youโre supposed to. No crunch, no guilt, no pressure to be constantly available. This is a chill cafรฉโstyle studio, not a factory.
And honestly, our Discord is one of the best parts of the whole project. Itโs not just a workspace. Itโs a community where people make friends, play games, join cozy events, share art, talk about their pets, and just relax. You can create when you want to and take a break when you need to. Itโs a place to breathe.
