today i am thinking about how pony has been around johnny's hero-worship love of dallas for years and it has never moved him once. all it takes is a single "i could fall in love with dallas winston" from cherry and he absolutely loses his mind trying to dissect the feelings of romantic love associated with dallas

YES THE DRAMA!! i can just imagine a scene where the tension is at its breaking point and dalpony is getting closer only for ponyboy to pull back with "we cant...what about johnny?" and thats what im talking about!! the forbidden temptations of it all

the drama of both of them knowing this is wrong and bad and a betrayal to johnny and their friendships with him. knowing johnny suffered through all of that and they're supposed to be there for him but... dallas doesn't feel safe enough to be vulnerable around johnny. he doesn't feel as if he can really be honest with cherry. he would feel caged in and like both are trying to fix him and pony does none of that. but pony also feels so bad knowing he's doing this behind his best! friend's! back! or that he's doing it behind cherry's back when he wanted to be her friend but... dallas is himself around him. they have their own jokes and history and maybe okay he should let... dallas... come back home with him. one more time. just one. more time-
