NEW! Many have been expecting to attend the upcoming Herald of Spring Festival, but as invites begin to roll out, something comes to light: permitted attendance is being filtered through unaffiliated faculty, with invites only going to those deemed virtuous enough. That said, all invites are identical, meaning there is nothing stopping invitees from passing their invitations onto others. Maybe you think someone else is more worthy than you are, maybe you think you were unfairly passed over, or maybe you think the staff’s evaluation of virtue ought not play a part in the decision at all. Digits flex to fist , the sting on his lip abates to an ache , and the curl of disgust falls from the corner of his nose. It is a miserable acknowledgment , not being acknowledged at all — — for one’s grandeur , for one’s sacrifice ( for the burns of an evil so putrid and dark it leaves crawling webs of scar and injury across one’s torso ).
“ Hm ? ”
She seems altogether frail , and in the hollow of her Michalis perceives too much of his own brushing with death that teeth grit within his skull and flame curdles beneath his breastbone.
And he grits , “ You could say so. What is it to you ? ”
This is not a face he knows — — nor much in the way of a face of a face he might know ( not the relative of one passed to the undertakers at the heft of his blade , nor of the mongrels under bark and command of that Altean whelp ).
“ Do not stand here only to ridicule me , ” He warns. “ I will hear none of it. ”
( He cannot dissuade it from the mind : she is frail , and health is tender about her — — does she have much fight at all ? )
"Oh- Uhm" Yikes. Did she accidentally push him to this point? That wasn't her intention, Sitri just thought that maybe he could use some company after rejection.
Sitri dusts her dress off instinctively, as if she physically needed to shake off whatever nerves had been creeping up on her. "I was simply wondering- Im sorry if it came off rudely" Maybe it wasn't to late to try to explain herself, but just based on this interaction alone she wasn't so sure on how well this would go.
"I... didn't get an invite either, despite being a nun at the church practically all my life" A simple summary thats for sure- but just enough to perhaps allow the guy to push past rejection "Though I don't know why you didn't get chosen, just now that I believe their qualifications might be a bit skewed." She finished off with a smile.
metatarsals. if they could disappear for a day, where would they run ?
BARE BONES.
The ocean.
Sitri lived all her life just seeing the same forests and mountains that surrounded the monastery. If she could run off just one time to see the waves crash against sand and rock like its described in the books, that's enough for her.
Maybe she would stand at the edge and close her eyes, letting the sounds of the sea wash away her struggles.

It was ( as all things were in such places of the youth ) a rumor , baseless , unfounded , and utterly risible. But it brought white-hot flame beneath his sternum and the nastiest curl to stretch the pink , scarred curve of his upper lip.
His tongue snaked through his teeth , pondering , pondering , pondering until a jagged , crooked finger touched by that devil's darkness prodded at the dryness of his lower lip. How could he wear the cloak of a wounded man , littered from chest to fingertip with raised , desperately-healed wounds and be not a virtuous figure ?
Teeth clack , a grimace grows. The pale envelope , wax-sealed and sanctified by this holy , child-condemning establishment , is not felt under the hardness of war-touched fingers. But garnet stares at curling parchment , —— we regret to inform you . . . —— !
It is cast swiftly away and cornered under heel. Utterly ignorant ! A testament to the ignoramus of a council that sows piety like pestilence , pleading that it roots and takes into the soil of devotees.
It cannot be helped that his fingers touch at his chest —— at that site of darkness , charred pink and branching under the mantles he cloaks and silhouettes himself in.
How could one steal Starlight into their fingers , wrested from the devils , and be turned away ?
It is a lousy goddess , he can only ponder.
" What a miserable council , " He grumbles to not a soul at all , standing about the remaining awaitees. " You fools haven't any thought of those within your walls , do you? "
A declaration of incompetency is perhaps all it takes to amount to one's father. It bites his lip well enough to sting.
@petuniasblessing
When she first heard of invites being sent to people, Sitri could not help but not be able to contain her excitement. She had to keep her composure as she waited for her invite to arrive.
Surely It will.
But as the day went on, and as she kept to herself, an invite never seemed to come her way. Sitri's expression softened, having to fight the sadness that she felt about being left out.
oh well... maybe she wasn't what the people thought was "virtuous" enough, she knows that she has crossed to many lines in her life. So maybe this place SOMEHOW knows about that. Though she highly doubts it.
Instead, a voice caught her attention- instead of focusing on her own rejection- Sitri decided to look towards the source of the voice and naturally make her way towards them. It seems she wasnt the only one. "Excuse me-" Her voice soft behind the man "I am- Assuming that youre displeased about the invite situation?"

[ TOWEL ] - With everyone drenched, getting dry becomes a top priority for most. Perhaps offering something to dry someone else off with is just what you need to get closer to one another…
She isn’t quite sure what compelled her to approach. Or what even compelled her to look for her in the first place. She’d seen her earlier, a brief glimpse in passing towards the event’s start, but she hadn’t thought much of it then. Yet once the rain began and the first few sneezes of shivering students began, it was suddenly all she could think of. How strange.
“Ah, there you are. Hello again. Come now, hold out your arms.” With a polite nod and pleasantries aside, Sothis offloads the towel into the other’s possession — warmed from a short time near a fire in hopes its recipient may find it more ‘comfortable’, somehow. Or at least prove of some use still should she not have gotten caught in the downpour itself. There. Mission accomplished. Now she won’t die. Or whatever it was she was so worried about.
“Do try to stay dry, won’t you? It would not do for you to catch a cold on what is meant to be a night of merriment.”
She was shaking, grasping at whatever warmth she could get. If Sitri had any idea about this sudden downpour, she'd at least pack extra clothes in cases like these.
A frown sits heavy on her face until a familiar voice speaks to her, causing Sitri to lift her eyes to its source. Why, it's the small woman from her time in that village, capturing creatures! Here she is enjoying the party as well... or at least before the rain ruined it all.
Doing as she was told, Sitri lifted her arms out to her. The trembling was clear as day as she happily took the new source of warmth. The towels brought comfort and one less worry of getting sick.
"Hello again, miss! Thank you for the towel... I was really worried I'd get sick because of this." Sitri admitted, a sad smile "Though... I wish the evening hadn't been ruined because of this... It would've been wonderful to enjoy the night."
the calm of the ocean
Lene was thrilled to see so many friends at the ball. She'd thought she would be a lost flower in the bouquet, but that wasn't the case! The dancer had connected with other familiar faces, including Sitri, a soothing woman whom she met at Burrohaven.
And the entire night didn't have to be Lene showing off her dancing skills. Lene was perfectly happy slowing it down and just chatting.
"Oh, you're here with a date! How fun!" The dancer was curious to see what Sitri's date might look like, but she kept those questions to herself for now.
"You're right. The night it still young. Did you want to try a slower dancer?" Lene kicks her feet around for a moment. Oh, right. She's wearing a ball gown. "How about we walk along the shoreline?"
Sitri smiles at Lene's excitement and brings her hands together. She was surprised at her ability to dance in such a gown. She seemed to be able to move with grace and no restrictions. Before Sitri could respond, Lene brought up the idea to move to the shoreline. There should be more space there… might be easier to move around and they were still close to the venue.
"The shore sounds nice… thought I hope we can still listen to the music, or else what would we be dancing too exactly?" Sitri chuckles before making her way to the exit and following a small path down to the beach. "At least it'll be easier to move around, don't you think?"

Propaganda.
He can hear so much of it fed into her words, oozing from each kindhearted syllable.
And she genuinely believed every word of it.
He... couldn't fault her for that, however. She was clearly raised to believe what she was told. It wasn't a moral failing on her part.
Just further indication of the church's sins.
And it meant he would need to take a... gentler touch. Not by much, but a little.
"I imagine it is. I have worked... not with the church, but around it for a long time. Even from those I met, there was a tight-knit feel to them. If they saw you as their family, I don't doubt for a second they meant it."
Insofar as they meant that she would be made into a pliable puppet. A marionette on their strings.
But he would help her cut herself free from the puppetmaster's sway.
In time.
He couldn't reveal the truth to her, to everyone.
He had to take this one step at a time.
"The monastery is wonderful, I would agree. Though there are some complaints I hold with it, there are many parts I can see the merit in."
The location of it was tactically sound. The foundations were solid to withstand a siege (as it had) in... less pieces than it would otherwise.
But voicing those wouldn't aid his goals.
"It accepting more people from overseas has been wonderful for learning more than just the Faerghus I knew before."
Which was a genuine compliment he held for it, mind! The intercontinental system was one he could not claim disappointed him.
...Mostly because it let him find more who did not believe the system he had put so much against.
"...Though I wish the cathedral was slightly less... gaudy, for lack of a better term. My manor's own chapel is much simpler, and I find it makes me feel closer to the Goddess than all the marble and gold in the world could. Is greed not something to be avoided in Her name, after all?"
A simpler noticing, built off of his understanding of customs. A small seed of doubt to be planted.
Now to see if the soil took it.
Sitri stares at him for a moment. It almost sounded like every word he said was forced, or at least that he held different opinions. She stood there, idly passing his finger against the cloth used to drape over the table. She was unsure of how to respond, but perhap she should continue to listen to him. Nothing helps a person more than to be allowed to vent it all out.
"I feel honored every day, Im glad you noticed how close everyone is here" She smiles, thinking back to everything shes been through before— and all the people she has met now. "Even the students! Im happy friends and family can be reunited here." Sitri admitted, gently rubbing the knuckles on her hand… why did she feel so nervous?
His question confused her… she never really thought about the decoration, nor how "gaudy" it looked. So, she simply shook her head and smiled at him "Well… it's the main area of worship, where anyone no matter where they're from can step foot in. I don't see why the appearance of the monastery and church would affect anything" she states, finally looking over at Lonato "You seem to have a lot of opinions about the church, I'm glad youre willing to share them all with me."

only us and the night sky
continuation from here
“And you,” Karla returned, kindly. “I’m Karla.” She was just tall enough for the tip of her boot to edge slightly into the sand from her seat in the hammock. She played with the sand as her eyes dug into the stars above them, enchanted mildly by the display of nature around them.
“It isn’t personal, don’t you worry. I came here tonight with my brother.” A breeze off the ocean came and mussed their hair, whispering of sea tidings and salty memories. “I’ve only been in Fódlan a small while. I’ve actually... left someone behind at home. Though... we’ll see where things go with him. After all, letters can only make up for so much distance.”
Sitri used her feet to idly rock the hammock, the gentle wind made her smile, and it was refreshing. She never believed that she would be able to be in a location like this, and honestly? It was a huge accomplishment.
"Oh, your brother? That seems fun!" Sitri smiles, "I don't have any siblings- I'll admit I'm a little envious, it seems fun." She often wondered if the possibility of a sibling existing could happen... but that was more of a "what-if" thought than anything else. "I'm sure they miss you dearly, if the love is true, they'll... wait as long as they have to," Sitri assured Karla, placing a hand on her shoulder.
[ GARDEN ] - The Viscount has a greenhouse attached to his estate, hosting his collection of flowers both normal and enchanted, imported from a variety of places and modified by his own hands. Being unable to go outside in these conditions in any safety, this might be the next best thing.
While waiting for his cape to dry by the veranda, his attention is drawn towards a set of flowers lined up near the entrance. They reminded him of Mist, and how she would spend her time observing and taking care of her favorite patch of flowers when they lived in Crimea.
Reminiscing about past memories in Tellius, he doesn’t realize that he was standing in the middle of the walkway. Without having to look behind him, he senses someone trying to discreetly walk past without making things awkward. Yet when he turns around, he ends up bumping into their arm instead.
“Sorry.” Greil takes a step back, closer towards the fencing. “Guess the storm’s knocked my awareness of my surroundings a notch.”
He realizes that it’s a woman. The way she carries herself reignites a flickering memory of someone he held dear, to which he quickly pushes the thought out of his head. “You don’t have any turtle charms on your bracelet. Have mine, if you want.” The man detaches one of them from his own bracelet and offers it to the lady.
Though the rain was unbearable, Sitri tried to make the most of it. She waited for a while to dry off just with the air in the green house but knew that wouldn't get her as dry as she was hoping for. A sigh of defeat as she begrudgingly stands, trying to squeeze the water out of her dress to decrease how heavy it had gotten.
Deciding the wallowing in misery wasn't the best plan of action, she moves over to look at the variety of planet life. She wouldn't dare touch any of these flowers like she would back home, not knowing if a single touch could easily hurt the poor plant.
She wanted to see the ones in the back, but someone stood in the way, lost in thought it seemed. Sitri didn't want to interrupt him— but the flowers that bloomed did call to her like an inescapable trap. Surely she could at least squeeze by? Bumping into one another wasn't a huge issue— she simply quickly turned to apologize, but the stranger had already beaten her to it. "Oh...! it's quite all right. I don't blame you. The sudden storm could've shocked anyone" she assured the man. "And besides, nature's beauty is for everyone"
She took a look at the flowers he seemed to be staring at before hearing his offer, turning to see the turtle charm in his hand. She buried her excitement quickly, gently taking the charm he offered and handing the anchor charm in trade. "Thank you so much! By the way, I saw you staring at these flowers... Do they remind you of someone?"
begrudgingly reunited
continuing from here for @duchaisruin
Wait... now she's confused. Perhaps she's mistaken him for someone else? That is possible. She doesn't know that many people, and so many partygoers look alike. Her face flushed red in pure embarrassment, but she still took the pearl charm he had handed her.
She looked away, trying to see if there was a way to return the way she came or if it was unsafe to do so. "Oh... I'm so sorry—I thought you were somebody else." Sitri clips the charm so it doesn't fall before she falls silent.
Here she was, with a supposed stranger, unaware of their intentions until they mentioned the word "lord. "Oh, you're here to work—I see. Can I stay by your side if it isn't too much to ask?" Sitri asked, hoping the "stranger" would be willing to stay by her side. "Once we're back at that party, I'll leave you be..!"
the calm of the ocean
Sitri was a friendly face to find amidst the glimmering crowd. She had a sort of calm and soothing presence that Lene desperately chased. Ever since their initial meeting in Burrohaven, the dancer wanted to get to know her better. This seemed like the perfect time.
Lene smiles authentically at her. It's easy for once. And Sitri is glowing with enthusiasm. "I'm so glad to see you, too," she tells her. "I wasn't sure you'd be here." Lene's heart was gladdened with the news that Sitri was enjoying herself.
"Well, we don't have to dance if you don't feel comfortable," she starts. Although she enjoyed showing off in front of the crowd, she'd never want to make her friend feel bad. "If you prefer, we can get a drink and relax. But if you do want to dance, I promise to go very slow." @petuniasblessing
Sitri felt more at ease that Lene had given her some options—she truly wanted to enjoy the night as much as she could.
If she was honest with herself, meeting someone in a colorful cave filled with creatures and flora that no one had seen before is a good start. She couldn't think of a more interesting way to meet a person.
"I couldn't miss out on the ball this year! I'm even here with a date," she giggled shyly as she covered her mouth. "To say I'm excited is an understatement!" Sitri glanced over to the dance floor before looking back at Lene. "The night is still young!" Sitri stated while standing up from her seat, "I appreciate that you're willing to go slow for me." New experiences and new friends... the night only improved by the minute.

oh yeah it's holy dragon science experiment mom & daughter time
[ CROWDED ]
The ballroom was practically swarming with people! Lene had to move left and right and left and right to avoid being stepped on. Nevermind wearing such a big dress! As she moved to the left side of the floor to avoid the cacophony, she very nearly bumped into a familiar face.
Sitri.
That's right. They had met in Burrohaven. She was kind and soft-spoken, and Lene liked her a lot. "Hey, Sitri. Hey!! It's me, Lene!" she called. Stepping a few paces over, she met her green-haired friend.
"How's the ball treating you? Having fun?" Or maybe she would like to dance. "If you want, I'd be happy to dance with you," she offers.
Ethereal Ball 2025 She wasn't used to this overpopulated mess of a ball, yet she didn't let that stop her from enjoying her time here. Sitri tried to keep her distance from any huge groupings of people, only to be met with another large group and ping-ponged around until finally finding an escape.
Just as she thinks she's safe, a soft bump causes her to turn around. "Oh! Lene...! It's good to see you." That's right; she remembers her. Another person to add to her growing list of friends. "The ball has been great! And I am having fun!" Her smile was as bright as the lights in this party.
She thought about it deeply at the mention of a dance - had she rested enough prior? Would it be safe enough for her?
"Of... course! Just don't be too quick... my body isn't suited for that! hehe.."
