works of vermin: AMAZING/10, a keeper, a re-reader, weird, beautiful, trans af, notes of mieville and maybe pratchett. was fully stunned and so impressed and also delighted by the reveal. also bugs :)
the bog wife: pretty cool, atmospheric, appalachian, unsettling, melancholy, literary
project hail mary: shocked by how much i liked it, this book had me laughing and crying and feeling a glint of optimism about the human race. liked it much more than the movie, the science if it all was very fun
the archive undying: tasty schlocky concept, extremely cool seeming world glimpsed through the slats of a keep you at arms length at all times about all things writing style, ultimately very difficult finish and left me feeling frustrated like a puzzle i couldn’t solve
asunder: great really good, fantasy of very much its own flavor, great magic system, even better DESCRIPTIONS all these unexpected and absolutely perfect word choices that create visuals of vivid clarity. a keeper. characters i miss a lot now that the story is over
escape from incel island: fast, silly, gory, ridiculous (pos), fun as hell. says trans rights hella loud. margaret killjoy you are a treasure. i see why she and evans are friends
dungeon crawler carl: IT WAS REALLY GOOD??? thought it was gonna be a straightforward dude pulp video game dressed up as a book but it was shockingly tender, thoughtful, galvanizing. also funny and casual feeling in a way that works well. thought it was gonna be a one and done for the first 100 pages or so but now i think i’m gonna peep the sequel. kinda says fuck ice and gay rights
next up: dead silence, scifi salvage ship horror let’s get scared
