A quick sketch because I am totally in looove with this tumblr ^^ Don’t hesitate to see their page http://peterlily.tumblr.com/ It’s like a dream coming reality ^^
So we don't often get fanart, but when we do our hearts absolutely melt. You are so wonderful and kind for taking the time to draw us. It looks amazing and we can't stop gushing over it!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎄🎁❄️
It may be a little late, but thank you so much! We hope you're having a wonderful new year so far!
I was at Disneyland this past Friday and I think I might have seen ya'll! I got so excited but I didn't want to freak you out and run up to you but your outfits were amazing!
It must've been someone else! (Both of us were stuck at work. Lame.) If you ever do run into us, don't be afraid to say hello, though!
As diehard Peter Pan fans , what is your opinion, on look of the upcoming Pan film?
Thanks for asking! It um... Looks different? As far as a high fantasy setting and all that is concerned, it looks like they built it up, but as far as actually reflecting the original canon, I think we're going to be disappointed. We're pretty interested with the inclusion of Blackbeard but we're not fans of how they've portrayed Hook so far. If we're going to be honest, overall it looks like they're just borrowing familiar names and lore to cash in on them, not really trying to do the original story justice. Definitely going to give it a chance, though!

your guys' Disneynound outfits are absolutely wonderful. I love it! ^-^
Thank you so much! We're glad you like them~
It’s almost time for Disneybound Day at Disneyland! It’s happening this Sunday in Toon Town at 11:30. We’re polishing up our outfits in preparation! Anyone else going?
Be sure to say hello if you see us there~
Totally late, but here are some pics from the last Dapper Day! We were so happy to hang out with all these stylish, wonderful people this year, some new friends, some old ones~ It was a great time and we can't wait for the next one. <3
Photos were taken by whimsicalmela and thoughtfulll.
So, a while ago I made this disneybound outfit. All and all, the reception has been pretty nice, but there’s an issue I’ve been trying to swallow for about a year now and I just can’t be quiet anymore. I’ve asked in pretty plain terms that people please not steal the concept or try to recreate it, but there have been multiple occasions where that’s been entirely disregarded. Needless to say, as someone who worked hard on my own ideas and with my own hands to put it together, it’s a little disconcerting. I just need to get this off my chest and out into the open.
Creating (art, making stuff, all that goodness) is where I find a lot of my fulfillment in life, so it’s really validating when people give something I do recognition. I spent a long time thinking up and slowly bringing the pieces of this together. This all stems from my passion for Peter Pan and his story and styles I personally relate to. I did what I felt made sense for Peter and what felt natural for me to wear. I was glad it showed since people seemed to like it.
What I wasn’t so thrilled with was when I saw comments or received asks upon asks of this nature (and this is just a handful):
I try to be polite, I answer these things privately if not brush them off. I never wanted to evoke the forces of social justice, so I never called anyone out despite how much seeing people steal the idea upset me. It’s not that I wish I would have put anyone on blast, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t regret not trying harder to address these people. Why? Because then I received this:
I really appreciated this tumblr user for giving the heads up, but it was pretty disheartening to hear the news. What happens mere hours after?
Hmm… Coming to me because you know someone called you out on it and then apologizing after the fact you did something totally makes it okay. By the way, I checked out their page, and of the pics I saw they had up there, I saw not so much as a mention of them being inspired by anyone, much less a link back or anything like that. This was just one of many to follow.
Just going into the tag “punk Peter Pan” or “Peter Pan cosplay” reveals more cases the longer you scroll. Most others I’ve either seen on Peter Pan blogs I follow. None of these people (ones that are blatant copies, that is) asked permission, or if they did, they completely ignored that I asked that they please don’t try to remake what I did. As you can see, people like to use the line “I’ll give credit!” Like that softens the blow. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t see one mention of me or the PeterLily account on any of the photos anyone’s uploaded. On a few occasions, I contacted some of the people who did this, asking that at the very least they could link back, make mention of their inspiration, something. Not one replied.
But it’s flattery that someone should want to remake your design! Not to me. Flattery would be a nice compliment, or some art, making a skin on Animal Crossing (someone did that and it was adorable). I don’t know, but things of that nature. To me, recreating the outfit for some convention isn’t about complimenting me, it’s about other people complimenting you as though you came up with it yourself. So, uh, this argument isn’t doing anything to convince me.
I don’t want people attacking those who’ve done this, just for everyone who has or would to know what it is they’re doing through their actions of blatant disregard. It’s insulting, hurtful and makes people not want to put anything up. Think of this as art theft.
It doesn’t matter if you feel entitled to something (something someone else made for themselves, not for you) or if you think someone is being defensive in ways you don’t understand. If the artist makes their wishes clear, you should respect them.
This outfit is just one case that happens more often than anything else. Both myself and Venia have seen several occasions where an attempt to take one idea or another was made. The small stuff we try not to sweat, but when it keeps happening, I think we’re within our rights to defend ourselves. We don’t own characters or themes, we didn’t invent existing styles, but for all the articles and accessories we made ourselves, those are ours. You can do a punk inspired Peter Pan outfit! By all means, have fun, but don’t rip off the one I designed. Taking the same elements and maybe changing what a patch says or something like that does not make it okay.
There’s a level of trust people put into strangers on the internet when they post their art, whatever form it may be. It’s exciting to create, and you naturally want to share it with others. However, it’s meant to be enjoyed within the parameters of respect. Just because someone puts something of theirs up because they wanted to share what they made with the world, does NOT mean you are entitled to take it as your own.
It’s sad this has made me second guess sharing what I do, but I’m 300% done. I’m allowed to be mad that people have taken something I made, and I am. So yeah. People, be kind to others. Consider integrity might be worth a little more than you getting a shallow compliment for something you didn’t even design. Thanks for anyone who actually read through this long time coming rant, feels good to get it out.
So I didn't really want to put this up on PeterLily, but this keeps on happening over and over. It's not a good feeling when I keep seeing people steal the idea or send me asks saying they've already done it or are in the process of doing it, but are trying to excuse themselves after the fact. Kind of sucks.
I try to be polite when I reply, but I don't think it's very polite when people obviously know I'm not cool with people taking the design and then try to cover their tracks. This is one of many, I have enough messages like these to fill a thesis paper page requirement, and it's pretty discouraging. I reiterate:
I don’t want people attacking those who’ve done this, just for everyone who has or would to know what it is they’re doing through their actions of blatant disregard.

See everyone at Dapper Day tomorrow!
Even though it will be miserably hot, we are both super stoked to meet up with friends hopefully make new ones! See all you beautiful people there!
We have had a couple questions regarding if we are attending Fall Dapper Day or not, and the answer is YES! <3
We are very excited to be attending another wonderful Dapper Day surrounded by our amazing friends (and hopefully new ones, too)! This little doodle by yours truly (Venia/Tiger Lily) is a preview of our outfits for the Fall event. They are subject to have little tweaks here and there, but overall, they're pretty close!
We really hope to see some of you Tumblr peeps there and would love to meet and mingle! Friends and fancy clothing, what can be better?
Do you ever go to Walt Disney World? Or just Disneyland? Do you two live in Cali? :) and you wouldn't find it weird if you got stopped by random tumblr fans of y'all? (:
We'd loooove to go to Disneyworld, but we haven't had the opportunity just yet. Some day! So, yeah, for now it's just Disneyland for us (we live within driving distance). And we wouldn't mind at all! We like running into people. If you ever see us in the parks, please come introduce yourself and we can chat!
my friend (who i recently informed about disneybounding) was just talking to me about what if there was a disneybound olympics and i was like "omg i know just who would take gold" (obviously you guys!) but as i was looking through your pictures, i had to ask, are you guys going to be attending the dapper day fall event in september? i hope to meet up sometime and i'm thinking that might be the best day to track you guys down haha! hope you had a nice day! (:
Gah, our hearts are melting with your kindness! Bringing honor to Neverland with some Olympic gold, baby! Hahaha. But seriously, it means so much to us that you like our outfits! We do it for fun and the fact that we can make friends through them is even better! As for Dapper Day in September, heck yeah we're going! New outfits, too~. We would love to meet up! If ya happen to see us, do not hesitate to stop us! We would love to chat and mingle with ya. <3
Hi, just wanted to say I love your styles! I'm gushing over everything you've done. So how did you get into disneybounding to begin with? anything that motivated you in particular to start?
Thank you so much, we're glad you like what we put together! We have always loved Peter and Tiger Lily, and we actually started out with just making our own headgear (Tiger Lily's headband and Peter's hat) and wearing that when we went to Disneyland. Once we caught wind of disneybounding, we jumped aboard since we love being creative with clothes anyway. We just looked for pieces of outfits here and there, then went all out for Dapper Day a few years back before there were db meet ups and all that good stuff. So, yeah, guess you could say our love for Peter and Tiger Lily was our first motivation and inspiration~

You guys are totally amazing! (Thank you so much for the advice before, I did my first disneybound recently with your helpful tips! :D) I also had some ideas that I was wondering if you could help me with? When you create outfits/actual pieces (gluing, sewing etc) from scratch, what's the planning process you go thru from start to finish; ex: if you say to yourself: "A vest would look great on this chara," how do u proceed from there, like what goes thru your mind?Thank you so much in advance!!
It's awesome that you were able to Disneybound and put something together! Isn't it super fun? As for putting together pieces, it is really dependent on the situation and what skills we can apply to it. Most if the time we see a piece of clothing and then decide to embroider, alter, or paint on it because those are the simplest ways to add just a little something to an otherwise plain piece of clothing. When it comes to making actual outfits from scratch (which is mostly only our Dapper Day ones), we research what type of clothing could fit the character and what can give some illusion on their original outfits. Nautch is pretty amazing at sewing so she makes up her own patterns and throws it together for us. I usually help with the finer details such as painting or hand sewing things. We hope that helps some!
You guys looked adorable in the park today, I wanted to stop you guys for a photo but I queuing for pirates
We weren't Disneybounding (which is why we didn't announce we would be in the parks) so it's actually pretty awesome that you still recognized us! Too bad you were in line. It would have been awesome to say hi and chat a bit! Next time, yeah?
