I thought I saw a falling star...
It’s still looking at life with a negative outlook as opposed to a realistic one.
I'm not being unrealistic. It could have been a plane.
Today was a nice lazy day,
Oh, is there a good pizza place? I love pizza.
I don't know. There's always Domino's?
I thought I saw a falling star...
Now it has.
Falling star, crashing plane and then firefly is a weird order to go in
Turns out I could have still been wrong all along.
Sometimes it seems better to think of something big because then when it turns out to be small it doesn't bother you as much...
Today was a nice lazy day,
That would involve going to the store and buying some food. Unless cheese and crackers count?
You could order a pizza. It's like cheese and crackers but more fulfilling. And, of course, you don't have to leave the house either.

I thought I saw a falling star...
You have a very strange way of looking at the world, you know that?
I don't think it's ever been brought up before.
I thought I saw a falling star...
You take a likin’ to the fall, then?
Yeah, it's alright.
Today was a nice lazy day,
Aaaand I forgot to eat dinner.
You should probably eat something then.
I thought I saw a falling star...
Guessin’ we’ve got different definitions of what’s cold and what ain’t.
Guess so. I'm not looking forward to the summer weather.
I thought I saw a falling star...
You survivin’ the night? Or am I just interpretin’ this wrong.
I just meant it still gets pretty cold at night.

I thought I saw a falling star...
Why’re you sayin’ that?
I'm not sure what you're referring to?
I thought I saw a falling star...
I ain’t even gonna pretend to know who that is.
Reckon’ it’s a good sign. The lightning bugs, I mean. Means summer’s right ‘round the corner.
He's a cartoon dog that fights crime.
Could have been something else too. I'm not really an expert when it comes to bright lights in the sky. Besides, I doubt I'd even survive the night right now.
I thought I saw a falling star...
..So you’re tellin’ me it wasn’t Superman?
It probably wasn't Underdog either.
I thought I saw a falling star...
Thought maybe it was a plane crashing.
Turns out it was just a firefly.
The Morning Shift || Peter & David
"Vaccine," Probably. David left his thoughts unsaid. His gaze was steady on the other ‘rat’s face for a long moment before he forced his eyes to the door. Clearing his throat, David moved around the counter, giving Peter a brief smile as he passed him to unlock the door. “We should, uh, we should g-get to opening, huh?”
It was about time that they open the Rookery up, and there were baked goods to restock the glass display with. Truthfully, though, David’s skin was crawling and he needed to get some space from Peter. The other ‘rat didn’t look a threat, but something about him was ringing alarm bells in the back of David’s skull.
He’d heard of plenty of other strains of lycanthropy that had been transferred by the vaccine but never before had he met a ‘rat outside of the experiment. Anyone could get bitten, all you needed was the bad luck to piss off the wrong ‘rat. Vaccines had to be administered by, in the least, a medical professional and these days, who in their right mind electively had themselves put down for a vaccine that was known to spread lycanthropy? Peter had said himself that he’d become a lycan long after the vaccine had been discovered to be the cause for lycanthropy.
Reaching the door, David turned the bolt and reached up to turn the ‘open’ sign on. His hands were clammy and he rubbed them against his jeans unconsciously. David’s brain buzzed between his ears, suspicion mounting quickly. It was dangerous to take information at just face value, humans lied all the time. He also couldn’t prove any of this, not without further information and the more he asked questions, the more Peter might get suspicious. Or worse, he’d start asking more pointed questions of his own…
Swallowing to try and draw saliva to his mouth, David turned back and headed towards the back room. He kept a careful distance from Peter. He knew that a ‘rat’s hearing wasn’t so acute as to pick up on the sudden jog David’s heart had kicked into, and there was nothing for Peter’s ‘rat eyes to pick out that would betray David’s wariness that any other human might pick out. But David also knew that the ‘rat’s nose was sharper than a humans and David could smell the little bit of fear he was already giving off.
"I’m going to g-go get the refills for, uh, for the drink syrups. I know we n-need chocolate and vanilla… any others?"
"Oh." Peter's lips remained parted but words went unspoken as he waited for David say more about his lycanthropy. His eyes moved away from David, the ground more appealing in the silence that filled the room, but he lifted them once David brought up getting back to work. Was that it? Peter rubbed the back of his neck and brought his gaze up, "Right, yeah." There was a nod before he started moving around, his fingers grasping random objects in an attempt to look busy, he felt a bit scatterbrained and hoped that it would fade once the work day started. At least the customers would distract him.
It wasn't so much that Peter had expected more of an answer from David, his own hadn't been very elaborate either, but there was a part of him that had wanted a bigger answer. He didn't want to pry into David's life though. Just because the other 'rat had been one for longer than him didn't mean he knew everything. Peter told himself that he would have to keep that in mind.
There as something off about David but Peter didn't know where to begin. Perhaps it was just nerves. David had no reason to trust Peter, they had met only minutes before, and Peter himself could identify with wanting to keep his distance but there seemed to be more to it. It was almost as if Peter had scared David but he couldn't figure out why or if that was even it at all. Peter had been underestimated before, pushed beyond his limits, and they had gotten more than what they had paid for but he still thought of himself as relatively harmless. He was in control. Hopefully. Still, David was a stranger and Peter couldn't fault him for not wanting to make friends with him right away, if at all.
David wandered into the backroom and Peter continued to keep himself busy in the front even though his mind was still on the other 'rat. "What?" Peter turned back, David's voice ripping through his thoughts, and stared at him for a moment before registering what he had said. "Oh, um, well...." His eyes darted around the room as he postponed his answer, "I'd say there should be a caramel too? I think that's it though." Peter smiled, his mouth closed.

Paranoid Android - Peter & Titus
There was a tense moment where he was afraid he was going to have to be more forceful in his attempt to take the focus off his wrist but while they were conversing the rabbit took more time in watching Peter’s reactions than anything else. His scent was unlike anything he’d encountered in Pickens before but he felt as if he ought to have been able to place it. In the grand scheme of it all, Titus ought to have been able to do a lot of things…that didn’t mean he ever delivered, of course. When Peter nodded, Titus’ shoulders gave a bit as the tension drained from them.
Titus’ focus was elsewhere on customers a fair distance away while Peter blanked his features, absent to bear witness to what small range of emotions the other Lycanthrope may have went through while also oblivious as to why. When the rabbit slept he slept like the dead but his beast didn’t make it easy to find time for it; Crepuscular bastard. Energy drinks and coffee made it all the more screwy and so usually he slept when his body said ‘lay down and shut up’. Titus looked back to Peter when he spoke, grinning wide as he clapped the rat on the back.
"Booyah! A match made in heaven, dude!"
Titus pumped his fists up into the air, laughing as he breezed past Peter to lead him towards the checkout counter. With his arms still extended, he turned around to face the rat and motioned with his chin at the blank section in the display where he’d gotten the phone.
"Ditch the floor model, c’mon, we’ll get you something spanking brand new."
Peter was getting restless standing there. He had come in overwhelmed and hadn't really calmed down since talking to March. His body flinched as the 'rabbit made a noise. He didn't know if he was supposed to throw his fist up in the air too or say anything back but the moment was lost. Peter just stood there, hands swaying in front of him as he held onto the display phone.
"Great." He said the word so softly that there was a part of him that wondered if he had even spoken out loud. He was ready to follow behind March when it was made apparent to him that he still had the phone in his hand. "Oh." He muttered, a soft smirk appearing across his lips, as he took a step back and placed the phone in the case. Peter made sure that it was secure before moving forward. He didn't want to cause a scene by dropping it.
"Okay," Peter let out a sigh, "Let's pay for this." He spoke as he approached the counter. It was meant to have more oomph to it, to match March's enthusiasm but his patience was wearing thin. He was at a point where he would have been fine with a rock if it had numbers painted on it. À la Flinstones. Guilt washed over him as he realized that he was acting immature. Peter tried to hide his emotions with a look of eagerness, eyes widened and a forced smile pushing on his cheeks. Despite his attitude, he was genuinely grateful for the 'rabbits help and didn't want to discourage him.
He scanned the counter as he waited to be charged for his new phone. There wasn't anything that he wanted to buy but looking helped keep his mind off things he wanted to ask March. Like how many phones he sold. Specifically, Peter wanted to know who he sold them to. He seemed to care more about numbers than Peter had when he came in. A phone was just a phone and he didn't care who had his number. Apparently he was supposed to.
Like Spinning Plates - Bianca & Peter
The brunette nodded knowingly, remembering how hard the first year of being a lycan was for her. Of course she was luckier than Peter because she had Blake by her side. But that didn’t mean they weren’t lost of confused. They had found themselves with many questions, but no one to turn to for answers. Instead they had been like two toddles fumbling around in the dark, making everything up as they went along. As far she knew no one had come out with a lycan 101 manual yet.
"Well, why not start by telling me what you do know and maybe I can try fill in the blanks from there?" she suggested. Bianca wondered what rules would Peter have to follow in town. Surely as a rat he didn’t fall high on the menu for the kinds of predators around here, so for the most part he would be safe.
He appreciated the fact the Bianca wanted to help but there was a part of him that was starting to believe she was making it worse for him. Their conversation had been brief and yet he had more questions than before he had met her. Peter shifted in his seat, his body facing Bianca. "Well, apparently I'm one of a kind, or at least it appears that way. Um, I've been like this for awhile." There was a pause as he gathered his thoughts, "I've figured out that there's no escaping it when it's a full moon. Oh, and I've acquired taste for stale popcorn left behind at the movies." The last part was meant as a bit of a joke.
"My hearing is better than ever." He crinkled his nose, not wanting to admit that his eye sight had gotten bad over the years, "And I can smell predators." It was easy to pick up their scent but he wasn't familiar enough with every Lycan to determine their specific species without having met one before them. Every word had been said in a whisper, he didn't want anyone to listen in.
