hi there! random question, did you get told who was fostering you before, or did you just sort of show up?

okay so, normally your social worker gets into contact with you, and tells you about a few days or weeks in advance about it. sometimes when someone’s considering fostering you, they let you know (sometimes that falls through though). and then there’s an intake day scheduled, and your social worker will drive you, stay for all the signing (there’s a lot of documents involved each and every time you change placements), and a tour. for some places, they schedule an overnight for you to stay over for one night a week or so before your actual intake. this is a precautionary, and in emergency cases, usually they skip the overnight. i had a choice about my placement once, and i had to meet them both over a call, and then i had three days to decide which placement fit me better. however, in emergency cases, everything is very last minute, and you do kind of just show up.
